The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County is currently accepting applications for Comin Up Academic Instructor for the Comin Up Gang Intervention Program.
As an academic instructor, you will be responsible for providing educational instruction and support to students in a variety of subjects. Duties include but not limited to: provide participants with both individual and group tutoring sessions, homework assistant to improve grades and GPA, instruction/tutoring for state standardized assessment to ensure students can meet proficiency standards, SAT/ACT instruction tutoring to assist youth achieve scores for college entrance. You will be accountable for administrative compliance, safety at assigned site, and be a positive role model. Services are provided on site during program hours. May be required to provide support services virtually. Employees are to follow all safety procedures and protocols.
Work sites are located in low income areas, challenging neighborhoods, and growth neighborhoods. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and at times moderate or very loud. Position requires working with at risk and gang involved youth.
Comin Up Gang Intervention Program serves gang-involved youth between the ages of 12-18 years in Fort Worth communities. Comin Up Program provides needs-based services and activities in efforts to reduce gang violence and influence positive change.
Requirements
Education and work experience requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required
- Minimum 6 months experience with youth (professional or volunteer work)
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to work evening and night hours (between the hours of 7:00pm and 11:00pm Monday – Friday two nights per week)
- Ability to assess needs of students
- Ability to be a positive role model
- Ability to establish rapport and build relationships
- Ability to relate to at-risk youth
- Ability to facilitate, teach, or instruct
- Knowledge of GED requirements; Knowledge of reading and math fundamentals
- Knowledge or tutoring or teaching techniques
- Knowledge of technology and software such as tablets, social media, cloud based tools, virtual meeting tools
- Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification
- Must be able to pass any and all required background screens and drug screens at any time
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching certification
- Bilingual
- Work experience or program knowledge of the Boys & Girls Clubs Movement (national and/or local club)
Pay & Benefits:
Pay rate will depend on position requirements:
- $15.00 per hour w/o teacher certification
- $19.40 per hour with teacher certification
