JOB SUMMARY:
A grant funded position responsible for providing academic instruction of out-of-school time (after school and/or summer) student academic, social and emotional enrichment. Position reports to the local building Afterschool Site Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in youth program or project implementation
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people (students, school administrators and staff, families, and community members).
- Possess an understanding of child development needs and levels
- Skill to manage classes safely and effectively, nurture positive behavior and maintain student engagement.
- Flexible, creative, resourceful, self-motivated, open-minded and enjoy working with children
- Reliable and consistent in attendance
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- CPR/First Aid Certification recommended
- Possess a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
- Be able to lift supplies equal to 25 lbs.
- Must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow the established operational policies and procedures for safety, development and instruction.
- Execute designated activities and instruction in a timely and efficient manner using synchronous instruction in small groups.
- Implement activities and/or provide direct instruction with fidelity, in accordance with approved curriculum and/or activity plan.
- Maintain a joyful environment where students are fully engaged in appropriate, meaningful, planned activities and collaborating respectfully with their peers.
- Manage a clean, safe environment with regard to space usage, incidents, behavior challenges and student transitions.
- Communicate with staff, schools, parents and students, as needed
- Engage equitable and culturally responsive practices to ensure an inclusive learning environment for all students and other stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned
LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is funded through a grant and/or other limited, discretionary funding sources. Employment in this position is renewed annually through the grant cycle and may change year-to-year based on funding availability.
