PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Under the guidance of the Chief Executive Officer and Director of Operations, the Director of Programs is responsible for planning, coordinating, executing and overseeing the after-school and enrichment programs at the Boys & Girls Club. This role involves designing, implementing, and evaluating a diverse range of initiatives—such as Brent’s Club, Wellness Programming, Kindness, Manners Matter, Healthy Habits, and Youth of the Year—that address the developmental needs of our youth. The Director ensures that staff in both the elementary and teen centers are well-trained and prepared to run programs effectively while actively communicating with parents about program offerings, schedules, and expectations.
In addition, the Director collaborates with internal and external stakeholders—including donors, the board of directors, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and Boys & Girls Club of Malibu—to align program outcomes with organizational goals. This role also involves working closely with the Wellness Center to incorporate wellness class presentations into our programming, ensuring that students receive comprehensive support for their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. By fostering a safe and supportive environment and holding staff accountable for the proper execution, documentation, and management of program outcomes, the Director of Programs plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, impactful programming that enriches the lives of our youth.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Program Development
- Represent the organization and provide leadership in developing programs, research strategies, and strategic plans.
- Develop, evaluate, and continuously improve programs using the BGCA Youth Development Model.
- Collaborate with team members to design engaging, interactive programs that cater to all age groups.
- Ensure all curriculum materials are age-appropriate, culturally responsive, and inclusive.
- Provide training and support to after-school program staff to ensure the successful implementation of the curriculum.
- Conduct regular assessments of program effectiveness and make adjustments based on feedback.
- Collaborate with community partners and stakeholders to ensure programs align with local needs and priorities.
- Implement and maintain standards for documenting outcome measures, cost, and return on investment for program initiatives.
- Monitor program achievements against target goals, recommend modifications to better meet member needs, and participate in regular branch staff meetings.
- Responsible for the implementation of programs and modeling program expectations.
- Kindness & Youth Engagement Initiatives
- Plan and execute kindness-focused events, including the Youth Summit and Kindness Pop-Up Events.
- Oversee and implement kindness-related programs.
- Organize kindness tabling at schools, community events, and open houses.
- Strategic Planning & Resource Management
- Prepare reports and projects detailing value evidence deliverables that generate club-specific data to support the organization’s mission and youth impact.
- Collaborate with the CEO and Club Operations team to develop outcomes research plans, outcome-based programs, data collection methods, and staff training initiatives.
- Manage third-party consultants as needed for study design, protocol development, measurement tools, data analysis, and final reporting.
- Stay informed on trends and new methodologies within outcomes research and establish communication with key opinion leaders in the field.
- Partnership Management & Marketing
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with BGCA, local schools, youth organizations, community groups, and other stakeholders.
- Leverage partnerships to support and execute outcomes research plans and program initiatives.
- Work closely with other departments to develop and communicate research findings, ensuring consistent messaging both internally and externally.
- Administrative & On-Site Responsibilities
- Staff will spend 50% of their time on administrative tasks and 50% on-site, rotating between the teen center, elementary programs, and supporting wellness initiatives.
- Ensure effective execution, documentation, and management of program outcomes
Qualifications
- Proven supervisory experience in program management
- Strong skills in management and program development
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Excellent relationship management and administrative skills
- Proficient in budgeting and understanding behavioral health principles
- Ability to effectively lead teams and collaborate with diverse stakeholders

Pay: $70,000.00 - $78,000.00 per year
