JOB SUMMARY: |
The Maintenance Specialist performs routine and minor repairs and maintenance of BGCMA facilities, pick-ups, moves, and secures donated, purchased, or other items, and assists in maintaining van and documents activities and transactions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES: |
Follows schedule set-up by Director of Facility Operations to perform routine and minor HVAC, electrical, And plumbing repairs of BGCMA facilities and reports on progress daily.
Repairs building structures, walls, floors, ceilings, cabinets and furniture.
Insures work areas are clean when finished; ensures tools are collected, cleaned and put away.
Assembles and moves furniture such as desks chairs and tables, and club recreation equipment such as weight equipment hangs pictures and bulletin boards.
Picks up and delivers donated (gift-in-kind) items.
Completes paperwork required to document maintenance and other activities.
Maintains neat, clean and orderly BGCMA’s storage space and an inventory of donated items in storage.
Advises supervisor when outside contractors are needed to accomplish a project and helps obtain outside bids.
Keeps BGCMA vehicle in good repair by following owner maintenance schedule and keeping vehicle clean and safe.
Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment and updates same annually.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: |
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Certification in related field required. Certified Electrician preferred.
- Valid Drivers License
EXPERIENCE
- Two or more years related work experience required. Basic construction knowledge and basic knowledge of and experience performing routine, electrical, plumbing, and small equipment repairs required.
- Must be able to follow established schedules, report activities, and document transactions properly.
- Demonstrated ability and understanding of power tools and related safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently of close supervision.
- Meets driver guidelines of age 25 with a valid driver’s license and a clean MVR.
- Knowledge of safe lifting techniques is required.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
ENVIRONMENT & WORKING CONDITIONS: |
Drives BGCMA vehicle to destinations in and around Atlanta. Physical requirements include frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting heavy objects. Works indoors and outdoors where weather conditions may be less than favorable. As well as an internal office environment with occasional travel to Atlanta. Sporadic evening work to support events and occasional weekends to support the organization’s special events and activities. Frequent internal contact with employees throughout the organization is required.
EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATION: |
Nonexempt employees are entitled, under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), to time and one-half their "regular rate" of pay for each hour they actually work over the applicable FLSA overtime threshold in the applicable FLSA work period.
