Job Summary
Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Richmond (BGCMR) fuels the boundless potential in young people to ensure they are life and career-ready.
The Youth/Teen Program Assistant (PA) will help facilitate robust programming that will create a culture of fun learning and enhance the well-being of teens. PA will also partner with program partners and other organizations to deliver quality programming.
This position involves working closely with program coordinators to deliver engaging activities, monitor participant progress, and ensure a safe and supportive environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about youth development and possess a diverse skill set to effectively contribute to program success.
Duties
- Building and sustaining positive relationships with youth/teens encouraging all youth to have a voice.
- Providing structure, guidance, and supervision to members.
- Working closely with community partners to ensure success of the program.
- Coordinating and running specified BGCA National Programs.
- Planning and facilitating daily programs for middle school and high school youth that align with BGCMR outcomes.
- Monitoring and evaluating program achievement against BGCMR outcomes.
- Implementing experiences that create learning and connections to career pathways.
- Coordinating and implementing special event opportunities with assistance from Club Director.
- Providing on-site, technical assistance and facility set-up to program providers.
- Collaborating with schools, colleges, and community organizations, to strengthen and enhance programs offered.
- Recruiting new members and identifying new program participants.
- Attending staff meetings, professional development (PD), and trainings.
- Engaging in community outreach efforts to promote awareness of available resources.
Skills
- Pursuing a career in education or career aspirations in youth development
- A minimum of two years’ work experience with teens
- Must possess interest, experience, or knowledge in providing creative programs for teens 11-18.
- Ability to implement curriculum and offerings in a variety of subjects and content areas.
- Ability to problem solve when issues may arrive related to overall Boys & Girls Club programming.
- Ability to use assessments for accountability, evaluation, and program improvement.
- Willingness to learn and be coached as well as mentor and coach the teens.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Counseling experience (preferred but not required)
- Ability to prioritize tasks, take initiative, communicate effectively among team members and proactively problem solve for roadblocks or conflicts.
- Ability to work on a team toward a common goal, get along with peers, subordinates and management and maintain a positive and constructive attitude.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 14 – 16 per week
