Position: Teen Program Coordinator
Hours: 30 hours per week (includes some evening and weekend hours)
Reports to: Director of Programs
Job Summary: In collaboration with the Director of Programs, Unit Director and teens in the community, the Teen Coordinator supports the development and implementation of teen specific programming. Promotes positive leadership development, graduation prep., graduation goals, post high school goals for teens including academic, career, military or trade school opportunities and interests. The Teen Program Coordinator coordinates programs, participant communication, teen center policies, and overall safety of all teen center participants. Contributes to the development and evaluation of teen center goals. Functions as a valued team member.
Essential Job responsibilities
- Provide positive interaction to participants.
- Ensure participants are conducting themselves in an appropriate manner in the Teen Center.
- Maintain the upkeep, safety, security and appearance of the teen center.
- Creates monthly calendar and informational flyers.
- Supervises teen staff and provides them with the tools & resources to be successful mentors.
- Plan and lead daily activities and weekly programs in all Core Program Areas, including career exploration, leadership development, STEAM, and Youth of the Year.
- Reminder calls to participants for programs and ensuring participants are ready to attend programs.
- Assists with special events as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. College student/graduate preferred with major/focus in Education or Child Psychology.
- 1-3 years of experience working with youth from 11 to 18 years of age.
- Working knowledge of New Mexico High School Graduation Requirements
- Working knowledge of FAFSA, college applications and Post-Secondary Pathways.
- Must demonstrate the ability to develop lesson plans and supervise a small staff.
- Must be responsible and organized with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Ability to have FUN!
This is an at-will position only.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
