What are the responsibilities and job description for the Athletic Director position at Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Arkansas?
Primary Function:
The Athletic Director facilitates and supervises the planning, staffing, promotion, implementation, and evaluation of a variety of sports programs within the Boys & Girls Clubs of McGehee.
Key Responsibilities:
- Is responsible for creating and maintaining an inventory system for equipment and supplies.
- Provide leadership and direction of maintenance of facilities as related to athletics.
- Provide leadership identifying and minimizing risks in the club's physical environment.
- Is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean environment conducive to youth development. All storage areas are organized for quick retrieval of items and repairs are reported to the CEO and taken care of in a timely manner. Responsible for developing and managing a system for maintenance of all athletic equipment.
- Communicate with local partners for use of gym/field space.
- Plan and execute athletic programs to actively engage members, parents, volunteers and the community.
- Provide leadership and guidance for professional development for other coaches and volunteers to promote learning and teaching of best practices.
- Coordinate with Club Directors to plan in Club Camps leading up to athletic program sign ups to maximize enrollment.
- Facilitate and plan Coaching clinics, youth camps and tournaments.
- Collaborate with Club Directors to release information on sign ups and recruit members, coaches and volunteers.
- Recruit and train volunteer coaches and officials.
- Utilize the member tracking system to register and communicate with participants.
- Administrative tasks included but are not limited to creating team rosters and schedules, setting up registration online, administering coaches required background checks and training requirements, purchasing needed supplies, communication with participants, volunteers and imputing data into the member tracking system.
- Maintain appropriate checks and balances in handling concession and gate cash.
- Must maintain appropriate safety protocols according to membership requirements and state and federal regulations.
- Recruit local organizations to Sponsor athletic events and leagues
- Plan and execute tournaments to fundraise for the organization.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
● Excellent written and verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
● Demonstrated ability to interact with parents, volunteers, and youth participants.
● Ability to understand, apply, and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
● Ability to multitask.
● Basic knowledge and understanding of sports and recreational activities
● Working knowledge of youth development principles and practices
● Ability to work under pressure
● A minimum of two years’ work experience in sports or recreation programs is preferred.
● Mandatory CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (can be completed after onboarding)
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $30,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year
