Position Description
TITLE: 21st Century Program Tutor
REPORTS TO: 21st Century Project Director
FLSA Designation: Non-Exempt/Hourly
Locations: BF Grady, Wallace, Beulaville Elementary Schools
The primary function of a 21st Century tutor is to provide individualized and group instruction to selected participants in the 21st Century Community Learning Center program at the designated site. The tutor will work with the Program Coordinator and Unit Director to plan and implement each component of the tutoring program in alignment with 21st CCLC program standards. Tutors are responsible for group assessment, benchmark and progress monitoring and reporting the results to the 21st CCLC Project Director as needed.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Communicating effectively with students, staff and the 21st CCLC team while working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods
- Utilization of resources provided by the BGCSENC and 21st CCLC program
- Effectively deliver instruction to program participants
- Manage tutoring group structure and provide quality programming for designated groups
- Develop individual, small group and large group academic lesson plans appropriate for participant assessment levels
- Teach and evaluate academic lessons
- Coordinate after school lessons with Common Core curriculum and review reading and math progression
- Help and encourage participants to develop positive attitudes toward learning and studying and develop skills necessary for academic success
- Be responsible for maintaining records on each participant who is being tutored, including follow-up and periodic assessment
- Provide evaluations and other reports as requested by the 21st CCLC program director Immediately report any unusual incidents, and all dangerous and or potentially dangerous acts, involving individuals using services to immediate supervisor. Report suspect child abuse according to the BGCCC policy
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required or as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, education background preferred Strong classroom management and organization
- Experience working with youth in a classroom setting
- Experience writing and completing lesson plans
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Knowledge of current educational research
- Experience working with Common Core State Standards
- Ability to work with staff and families of diverse backgrounds and experiences
Salary : $25 - $28
