Academic Assistant
Position Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt (=<25) ($15-$17)
Reports To: Academic Success Coordinator
Position Overview:
The Academic Assistant will support the Academic Success Coordinator in delivering educational programs focused on improving student achievement, particularly in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) and literacy. This role involves assisting in program facilitation, providing academic support to students, and handling administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of academic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities: Program Support:
- Assist in implementing STEAM and literacy enrichment programs.
- Support academic interventions, including homework assistance, study skills development, and individual tutoring.
- Help organize and participate in educational field trips, workshops, and events.
- Aid in the preparation and execution of engaging learning activities that cater to different learning levels.
Student Engagement:
- Provide day-to-day academic support to elementary and middle school students.
- Build positive relationships with students to foster engagement and motivation.
- Assist in tracking student progress and performance, providing relevant feedback to the Academic Success Coordinator.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of student participation and progress.
- Assist in data collection and reporting for program effectiveness and grant compliance.
- Help prepare educational materials, schedules, and resources for lessons and events.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with the Academic Success Coordinator and other staff to ensure seamless program delivery.
- Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress and program activities.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance program effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in education, youth development, or a related field.
- Experience working with youth in educational or recreational settings.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail in managing administrative tasks.
- Familiarity with STEAM education concepts is a plus.
