What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager position at Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine?
Position Overview:
BGCSM is seeking a highly organized, deadline-driven team player working with the Advancement Team to maximize grants from private foundations, corporate giving programs/foundations, and federal/state/municipal funding opportunities. Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager will maintain a rigorous calendar of funder proposal deadlines and reports that drive grant revenue to support general operations, programs, and special initiatives.
Essential responsibilities:
Proposal and Report Writing – 50%
- Responsible for drafting all federal and non-federal grant proposals, developing narratives in line with the organization’s program descriptions and objectives
- Develop grant budgets, in collaboration with Finance
- Coordinate letters of support and other supplemental materials, as required by the funder
Funder Research & Relationship Development – 20%
- Serves as primary relationship manager for foundations (outside of large, strategic relationships with CEO) to make sure funders are invited to events, receive stewardship communications relevant to their grant funds, and stay engaged with the organization between grant reports and new grant requests.
- Initiate an ongoing cycle of prospect research to identify new funders and grant opportunities for private foundations and corporate foundations.
Grant Award Management – 20%
- In collaboration with Program and Finance staff, ensure that grant deliverables are being tracked and met in accordance with the grant award
- Conduct regular check-ins with appropriate staff to review current and upcoming proposal and report deadlines
Administration, Systems, and Processes – 10%
- Responsible for developing and maintaining an accurate grant calendar of upcoming deadlines, in accordance with the organization’s systems and processes
- Position will debrief contact reports, documenting them appropriately in the organization’s constituent relationship management software
- Work with the Finance team and Advancement Coordinator to assure that grant budgets, purchases, and reimbursements requirements are properly documented and tracked.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in non-profit management, communications, public relations or another related field.
- Proven experience in securing corporate and foundation funding, including grant writing and stewardship.
- Strong relationship-building and partnership management skills.
- Strategic planning abilities with a track record of meeting revenue goals.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills to communicate impact effectively.
- Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge) and grant tracking tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising trends and corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices.
Work Environment including physical requirements:
- Office and educational/classroom environment
- Must be able to lift, carry, reach, bend, push or pull up to 20 pounds at times.
- Must be able to traverse facility and lead members to safety in an emergency.
- Must be able to sit and engage in prolonged computer use of at least 4 hours per day.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience ($60-$65k)
