Key Responsibilities
Executive Leadership and Strategic Planning:
Oversee the day-to-day operations and implementation of all youth development programs, ensuring high-quality delivery and alignment with the organization’s mission and goals. Lead internal strategic planning efforts to ensure organizational growth, program effectiveness, and cross-departmental collaboration. Regularly evaluate progress and make adjustments to meet strategic objectives. Assess organizational effectiveness based on participation and goal achievement, recommending modifications to improve performance. Foster a culture that supports the goals outlined in the BGCA Formula for Impact.
Staff Management:
Manage the performance of all direct reports in achieving goals, providing technical assistance in program design, professional development, community relations, and program operations. Organize, direct, and coordinate operations including supervision, recruitment and retention of key personnel, facilities management, and budget oversight.
Program Development:
Collaborate with program leadership to develop, evaluate, and enhance existing programs while identifying new opportunities based on community needs and organizational priorities. Partner with the development department to secure program-related grant funding. Lead the standardization of program positions across all youth development programs, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities for Program Directors (PDs) and Unit Directors (UDs) to promote consistency and efficiency. Oversee staff management, including performance evaluations, professional development, and alignment with organizational goals to drive program success and growth.
Quality Assurance:
Establish and maintain quality assurance systems and procedures to monitor program effectiveness, ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, and drive continuous improvement.
Safety and Risk Management:
Develop and implement comprehensive policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of Club members, staff, and volunteers across all Club locations. Lead prevention initiatives to mitigate potential risks and ensure proactive measures are in place. Regularly review and update program manuals to align with best practices and regulatory standards. Utilize safety forecasting to anticipate and address potential safety challenges, ensuring a secure environment for all.
Community Partnerships:
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with community partners, schools, and other stakeholders to facilitate program delivery, resource-sharing, and collaborative initiatives. Serve as the main program contact for organizational partners such as Sertoma Clubs, holiday partners, Kiwanis, etc.
Budget & Financial Management:
Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial guidelines. Ensure the continued financial viability of BGCS operations through sound fiscal management. Manage financial resources, participating in the development of Unit and area annual budgets. Control expenditures against budget, making recommendations for expenditures to purchase supplies and equipment. Monitors budgets of assigned departments and related financial activity for the purpose of ensuring that allocations are accurate; expenses and revenues are within budget; program fees are collected according to policy; and fiscal policies are followed.
Reporting and Compliance:
Oversee the collection and analysis of program data, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and funding requirements. Working closely with the Director of Safety & Compliance, identify potential risks and vulnerabilities at local Clubs and proactively support mitigation and safety improvement plans through online and face-to-face consultation and training. Ensure that all grant funded programs and positions are meeting expectations. Ensure all federally funded programs meet requirements (i.e. 21C, CDBG, OJJDP, etc.)
People and HR Leadership:
Provide strategic oversight in fostering a positive and inclusive organizational culture that aligns with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield's mission, values, and goals. Supervise the HR Generalist to ensure effective management of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and employee engagement. Collaborate with the executive team to implement HR strategies that support staff development, retention, and organizational effectiveness. Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts while promoting professional development and succession planning to enhance team capacity. Ensure compliance with employment laws and HR policies, and support organizational change initiatives to facilitate communication and collaboration across all levels.
Data Tracking & Analysis:
Establish and maintain systems for tracking and analyzing program data, including participant demographics, attendance, program outcomes, and member feedback. Ensure the timely collection and reporting of up-to-date data trends to assess program impact and identify areas for improvement. Utilize this data to make informed, data-driven decisions that enhance program quality and effectiveness. Oversee operational evaluations and compile annual written analysis on member needs, staff needs, and interests. Ensure that monthly statistical reports, including activity logs, attendance, participation, surveys, and outcome evaluations, are prepared and reviewed to evaluate program impact and inform ongoing improvements.
Strategic Planning:
Lead and contribute to the organization's strategic planning initiatives, providing insights and recommendations to enhance program effectiveness and drive organizational growth. Spearhead the development and promotion of capacity-building resources that support the long-term success and sustainability of the organization.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often in a clean, non-smoking, heated and cooled office environment. The employee will also frequently be indoors or in a vehicle, but may also be outdoors with exposure to dust, pollen, and outside temperature and weather extremes associated with the region.
