Job Title: Educational & Behavioral Interventionist

Reports to: Site Coordinator

Rate: $30/ Per Hour

Location: St. Lucie County


POSITION SUMMARY

The Educational & Behavioral Interventionist is responsible for providing direct individualized intervention services to club members and collaborating with teachers concerning club member needs, issues and learning initiatives, curriculum, and building issues.


duties & responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the Interventionist are, but are not limited to:

· Observing and evaluating club member’s performance and development while providing feedback to encourage student growth

· Uses positive intervention strategies to support club members and promote their social, emotional, and physical growth and development

· Use research-based literacy and/or numeracy intervention strategies to support students

· Participate in Boys & Girls Clubs professional development related to best practice in content areas, assessment

· Communicates with families for requested information

· Collaborates with the teacher to guide behavioral and academic interventions, monitor student data, and ensure teacher support

· Provide data-driven strategies that address equitable practices for improving student experiences and achievement

· Facilitates a response to intervention framework for literacy and numeracy that supports differentiated instruction, closes the achievement gap and ensures high levels of learning for all club members

· provide, problem-solving team participation, and enrichment opportunities for identified learning

· Collaborates with the teacher in referring students for evaluation

· Assist teachers and/or supervisors in implementing a reading program

· Assist teachers with diagnosing reading strengths and weaknesses and match these skills with appropriate techniques and materials.


OTHER duties & responsibilities

· Actively participate in BGCA training, internal training, and All Staff meetings

· Report suspicions of abuse or neglect to the State Abuse Hotline

· The Certified Teacher will be on-site during all hours of a program operation to ensure that all activities support student instructions.

· The Certified Teacher is provided with 30 minutes per day for set-up and planning.

· Support other projects as needed.

· Completes any additional assignments as requested by the Club Director


qualifications


BACKGROUND SCREENING

· Must submit to and pass Level 2 background screening through the Florida Department of Children & Families.

· Must pass pre-employment drug test 


Certifications 

· Current Florida Educator's Certificate

· Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred


EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE 


Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology or any other related subject is imperative. At least 3 years of experience in the field of teaching is necessary to reach this position. Some experience in not-for-profit is beneficial.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

· Knowledge of positive behavior interventions (i.e. Responsive Classroom, Restorative Practices)

· Demonstrate skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.

· Knowledge of reading and math interventions 

· Deep knowledge of curriculum design and instructional strategies, quality instructional practices,

· professional development, student data analysis, assessment practices and staff training techniques

· Great supervisory skills

· strong oral and written communication skills

· Awareness of the recent trends in teaching and education

· Responsible and organized

· Ability to deal with the children effectively

· Great leadership qualities, and stress tolerance

· Must have a positive work ethic, attention to detail, strong initiative, and be reliable

· Adjust direction and priorities within a fast-paced and multi-faceted work environment

· Strong proficiency with computers, database entry and full Microsoft Office suite, email, and internet

· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret data and information and apply appropriate judgment

· Demonstrated ability to work independently without supervision; ability to make decisions independently

· Ability to handle confidential information with discretion; High level of professionalism and diplomatic etiquette

· Ability to retain information and utilize critical thinking skills

· Ability to interact with all levels of management and team members

· Ability to analyze and interpret course text and professional materials

· Ability to communicate unit/lesson objectives and content


Travel

Some travel may be required for training and/or other business purposes.  


Working conditions

Our offices, neighborhood clubhouses, and school-based clubs are fast-paced work environments and are strategically located in areas of St. Lucie County where youth need us most. Based on the organization's needs, flexibility to work different schedules and work in different locations in St. Lucie County is required due to changing business demands. Physical demands: 

· The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, stooping/kneeling, reaching with hands and arms, and finger dexterity. 

· This position requires extended talking, listening, sitting, walking, and standing; computer viewing, and keyboard entry. Regularly lifting up to 25 pounds. 

· Ability to think strategically and ability to sit for more than four hours per day.
