What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Crew Member/ Site Supervisor - Community Boating position at Boys & Girls Clubs of Stoneham & Wakefield?
Are you looking for a fun summer job that is outside on the waterfront? The Boys & Girls Club of Metro North Community Boating Program is entering its fifth year of bringing a love of the water to our local communities. We are looking for Lead Crew Members/ Site Supervisors who desire exciting work opportunities in an outdoor waterfront setting. This job is a fast paced customer oriented position for individuals that are comfortable speaking with clients, can work independently and as part of a team, and manage employees. Candidates must have a strong knowledge of safe boating operations.
All applicants must be available to work Saturdays and Sundays throughout the season from May 24th - September 28th.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Work with the Program Director to coordinate the day-to-day functions of the program overseeing boat rentals and take charge in the Director's absence.
Provides assistance and information to boaters, answering questions, resolving complaints, and ensuring a positive customer experience.
Maintain a safe and clean environment. Enforces all lake rules and regulations, ensuring a safe boating environment for all patrons. This may include conducting safety briefings, ensuring proper use of life jackets, and addressing any unsafe behaviors or situations.
Provide first aid and CPR assistance in case of an accident or emergency. Respond to emergencies on the lake, including boating accidents, medical emergencies, and other incidents. Monitor weather conditions, lake levels, and other factors that may affect boating safety, and take appropriate action to address potential hazards.
Monitor and maintain the condition of the equipment. Perform regular inspections of boats and other equipment, ensuring they are in good working order and addressing any necessary repairs.
Staff management.
Oversee the reservation system.
Maintains accurate records of boat rentals, inspections, and other relevant information, including daily logs and incident reports.
May assist with other tasks & projects as assigned.
Requirements:
- Certified in CPR, First Aid & AED (training provided)
- Certified in safe boating practices (training provided)
- Waterfront Experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Customer service skills
- Computer skills
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Creativity and problem-solving skills
- Able to lift 40-50 lbs.
Work environment:
- Environment: Primarily outdoors, exposed to varying New England weather conditions, including heat, rain, and potential cold.
- Schedule: Must be flexible with hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
