Primary Function:

Collaborates with the Program Director to develop and implement all STEM related programs and activities. Responsible for assessing, evaluating and reporting all STEM programs and activities at assigned locations. Provides supervision and control over youth, staff, and volunteers. Provides vision for the STEM program area for all age groups and is responsible for maintaining supplies and equipment as it grows and expands. Seek out additional opportunities for members through community partners and relationships. Attend training to expand STEM knowledge and offer new ideas to staff/members. Host an annual STEM festival in which members will highlight their talents and creations to their families and community. Collaborating with other Boys & Girls Clubs in the area. Create and implement a weekly schedule for members. Assist in planning, developing, oversee implementation, and supervising STEM programs.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

  • Collaborate with Program Director, Program Coordinators/Directors, and staff on program and curriculum ideas.
  • Explores and grows the program throughout The Golden Triangle.
  • Help with recruitment and training STEM staff, volunteers and interns
  • Represent the Boys & Girls Club of The Golden Triangle and interpret its objectives, standards and programs.
  • Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of youth development outcomes.
  • Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
  • Create and maintain a culture of respect within the Club.
  • Use social media, flyers, calendars, etc. to market programs and encourage regular participation among teen members.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and staff training sessions.
  • Employees must always maintain a positive and professional attitude/demeanor while working.
  • Will be required to drive Club Youth Bus/Van (depending on driving record and age) for Club’s afterschool transportation program.
  • Must work towards Commercial License /Passenger Endorsement & Youth Bus Certificate.

  • Participating in program orientation/staff training process
  • Promote and stimulate program participation, implement/assist in various enrichment programs
  • Implement self-esteem and variety of learning activities
  • Provide positive role modeling

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION

  • Plan and execute STEM activities for K-12 during fall/spring semesters and Day Camps.
  • Maintain and submit all record keeping including, but not limited to, program reports, member enrollment, attendance reports and activity calendars.
  • Ensures that all STEM supplies are stocked and in good condition, submits orders for purchase of supplies and maintains an organized and tidy work area.
  • Promote, recruit and implement all STEM programs at assigned sites.
  • Collaborate with potential community partners (museums, libraries, corporations, schools, etc.) to develop field trips, volunteer engagement opportunities, curriculum partnerships, etc.
  • Evaluate program curriculum and implementation.
  • Participate in BGCA national program and training opportunities (Netsmartz, Digital Arts Festival, My Future, robotics, coding, media programming, etc.) as necessary/desired.
  • Work with Teen Director when necessary to provide opportunities for teens interested in STEM related fields, such as field trips, mentorships, internships etc.
  • Participate in outcome measurement processes and other evaluation programs, including BGCA's annual Impact Assessment and National Youth Outcomes Initiative.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participation in special programs and/or events as assigned.
  • Participation in or lead special programs and/or events.
  • Supervise members in other areas of the Club.
  • Will be required to work some weekends.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director and/or BGCGT Management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physical requirements include some physical exertion such as lifting (up to 40 lbs.), stretching and bending in a Club setting as well as standing for long periods of time.

The work environment is in a club environment and includes interaction with children aged 5-18 and can be noisy at times.

The employee must remain physically fit enough to keep children safe in an emergency.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to perform certain duties. The noise level in the work environment can range from quiet to moderate in office settings to moderate and usually loud in recreation and play settings when children are present.

All employees working directly with children at all Boys & Girls Club of the Golden Triangle locations are required to work outdoors in various types of weather conditions at times.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • 2-year degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • 1-3 years working with youth or equivalent experience.
  • College Degree preferred in a STEM discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with youth ages 5-18
  • Experience in a leadership position
  • Prior STEAM and/or Robotics experience preferred
  • Knowledge of youth development
  • Ability to supervise and control large groups of children at a given time with respect
  • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
  • Ability to motivate youth and deal effectively with behavior problems
  • Ability to deal with the general public.
  • Strong communication skills both with staff, members and management.
  • Valid State Driver's License.
  • Positive attitude and disposition.
  • Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth
  • Valid State Driver’s License
  • Knowledge and/or experience with computers and technology

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 4 hour shift
  • 8 hour shift
  • After school
  • Monday to Friday

Work Location: In person
