Job Title: Accounting Specialist - Receivables

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Position Summary:

This accounting specialist role is responsible for the daily functions of accounts receivable. This individual will work closely with various departments throughout the organization on daily deposits, pledges receivable, private and government grants, and invoicing needs.

Essential Functions:

  • Reconcile, process, and record daily deposit logs from development and the clubs.
  • Prepare monthly reports and invoices for grant billing ensuring timely invoice submission to various agencies and funders.
  • Summarize and communicate any unspent grant funds to program managers in a timely manner.
  • Conduct monthly accounts receivable reconciliations (grants, pledges, miscellaneous) to ensure accurate reporting and timely collection of outstanding amounts.
  • Reconcile development and accounting gift records monthly to ensure transactions are accurately recorded by both departments.
  • Train and support front office managers and club directors with Money Trax.
  • Assist the CFO in preparation of workpapers and schedules for annual financial audit.
  • Field questions, resolve issues, and provide documentation to staff as needed.
  • Assist in compiling data for BGCA annual non-financial and financial reports.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Excellent customer service skills internally and externally.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited College or University
  • Two (2) or more years of work experience in non-profit agency operations, specifically in the fields working with accounts receivable, grants, federal and state funding requirements, reconciliations, and audits
  • Knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and project management abilities, attention to detail, and promptness
  • Ability to work under time constraints in an accurate and orderly manner
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and organize work to meet deadlines
  • Experience working with and demonstrating compassion and/or sensitivity toward vulnerable populations and individuals with diverse backgrounds present in the organization’s service population, both individually and in groups
  • Ability to effectively interact with sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences present in the organization’s service population, both individually and in groups
  • Must be able to effectively navigate and function within a virtual environment
  • Must be proficient in the use of Windows, Internet, Microsoft Suite (Microsoft Teams, Word, Advanced Excel, Outlook, Access or other database software proficiency), Zoom or other Virtual Meeting platforms, and Google Platform (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides)
  • Ability to earn and maintain mandatory CPR & First aid certification
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and meet eligibility requirements to drive a BGCM vehicle
  • Must be able to pass a drug test, criminal and driving records investigation
  • The ability to read and write is necessary to complete reports and properly document program and organizational data
  • Must have reliable transportation to get to sites or meetings
  • Must have regular and reliable attendance
