ORGANIZATION MISSION:
The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast is to provide high-quality, out-of-school Club experiences to ensure our young people, especially those who need us most, are on track to graduate from high school with a plan for their future, demonstrate good character & citizenship, and live a healthy lifestyle.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Workforce Lead YDS will work under the Prosperity Pathways Coordinator to plan and implement Workforce Readiness programming to Clubs in Northern Pinellas County. The Lead YDS will assist with successful planning, developing and implementation of programs and services to achieve the Formula for Impact for Club members, as part of our Workforce development team.
This position is $19/hour and up to 25 hours a week, M-F, 1pm-6pm but hours may change during summer camp or special events.
Requirements
KEY ROLES:
- Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development outcomes
- Promote and stimulate Workforce Readiness program participation
- Posses knowledge of workforce readiness, college preparation, and career exploration programming
- Register new members and participate in the club orientation process
- Provide guidance and role modeling to members
- Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for club members and visitors
- Monitor and evaluate programs, services, and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the Club at all times
- Prepare lesson plans and various activities for members to engage in to promote college and career exploration programming
- Ensure a productive work environment by participating in weekly staff meetings
- Utilize attendance tracking software, MyClubHub, to accurately track program attendance daily
- Reliable transportation to travel to BGCS clubhouses to implement Workforce Readiness programming
- Must be eligible to drive per our insurance
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
May be required to work on some weekends and/or extended hours for special events and/or programs including summer camp when Clubs are open additional hours
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club Staff (professional, part-time and volunteers), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; and/or advise/counsel.
External: Maintains contact with other clubs, vendors, consultants, organizations, government agencies and others to achieve program goals and objectives, manage costs, share information, and resolve problems.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Group leadership skills, including and understanding of group dynamics
- Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities
- Knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast, Inc
- Demonstration of ability to communicate with different groups
- Successful supervisory experience
- Mandatory CPR and First Aid certifications
- Must have basic computer knowledge and skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED; some college or college degree preferred
- 2-3 years’ work experience in a Boys & Girls Clubs or similar organization, planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people highly preferred
- Valid driver’s license and approved to drive by our insurance carrier (minimum age 21)
