Summary
As the Athletics Manager at Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada, you will oversee the development and implementation of athletic programs that engage youth in physical activities. This role is essential in promoting health, teamwork, and personal growth among our members.
Responsibilities
Prepare daily schedules for sports and sports assistant, including four summer staff. This schedule will include hourly activities and lunch breaks for staff.
- Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in sports programs.
- Provides a monthly report on activities and attendance for Board Meetings (emailed to Program Director).
- Maintain an inventory of all sports equipment.
- Develop and maintain year round leagues/camps for all youth.
- Inspections of the facility program area are held daily to ensure safe, clean and sanitary. Formal inspections of the facility program area are held daily to ensure safe, clean and sanitary conditions. This inspection to include the restrooms.
- Track participant attendance for grants.
- Individual, small group, large group and drop-in programs and activities in physical education are implemented which address the needs, interests and characteristics of members for each age group, and the Youth Development Strategy of the Club is utilized.
Maintains a safe, clean environment conducive to youth development.
- Ensures that grounds, buildings and all program areas are free of graffiti and litter, and that they are safe, neat, clean, sanitary and attractive; that all equipment is kept in good condition, safety precautions are posted where needed, and members are instructed in its proper and safe use.
- Ensures that all program supplies, equipment and member’s personal belongings are properly and securely stored.
- Will be trained in First Aid and CPR. Ensures that First Aid supplies are maintained, and that Consent to Treatment Forms are signed for all youth involved in the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada.
- Appropriate press releases on newsworthy items are given to the Program Director to be sent to appropriate media at least monthly, regarding member participation and programs and services available at the Club as well as announcing special programs.
- Help with daily/weekly maintenance
- Proven experience in childcare or youth development roles, preferably in a recreational or educational setting.
- Strong background in athletics or sports management with knowledge of various sports disciplines.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with youth, parents, and staff.
- Ability to educate and inspire young people through engaging programming.
- Experience working with students or youth groups is essential.
- Certifications in lifeguarding or coaching are a plus but not mandatory.
