What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance- Per Diem position at Boys & Girls Village?
I. PURPOSE/FUNCTION OF PROGRAM
Boys & Girls Village offers an array of services for children and their families. The services range from highly structured sub-acute services on campus to intensive intervention and care in the home and community. The function of the Facilities Department is to provide and maintain resources necessary for the Agency to run effectively and efficiently.
II. POSITION OVERVIEW
The Seasonal Groundskeeper performs general maintenance and upkeep of Agency buildings, grounds, vehicles, and equipment. This also includes landscaping, as assigned. This employee shall keep all equipment in clean, orderly, and functional condition. Facilities team members aid other staff and visitors, as necessary. This role is considered and classified as “essential” to the operations of the Agency
III. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Performs seasonal landscaping duties related to all facets of grounds keeping, ensuring all areas are free from debris, snow, and ice
· Use and maintain various hand tools and gas-powered tools to mow and maintain grounds, rake leaves, trim bushes and trees, plant flowers and shrubbery, remove dead plants and weeds, water and fertilize vegetation, and get grounds ready for seasonal changes
· Maintain mowers and all snow equipment
· Reports completed work orders to Manager/Director
· Sets up and tears down chairs, tables and equipment in meeting rooms and function rooms
· Picks up and delivers supplies and materials to rooms, as needed
· Follows all applicable safety rules and procedures
IV. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Carries out other job-related duties, as instructed
V. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
· Experience using various hand tools and power tools in making preventative maintenance and minor repairs and maintaining grounds and walks
· Ability to carry out detailed oral and written instructions
· Ability to relate to students, staff and public in a courteous manner
· As essential staff, you must be able to work outside normal business hours, if needed. This may include holidays, weekends, and overnights
· Must have valid driver’s license

· High School Diploma

VIII. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 60 pounds
· Ability to climb ladders
IX. WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:
· Ability to work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and ice
