What are the responsibilities and job description for the House Manager position at Boys Hope Girls Hope of Northeastern Ohio?
Boys Hope Girls Hope of Northeastern Ohio (BHGH) is seeking an energetic professional with a passion for developing youth through community to join our team as a House Manager. The House Manager is an integral member of the Residential Program Leadership Team, and is responsible for developing and implementing positive community life and experiences for the Residential Scholars who call BHGH home. The schedule for this full-time, in-person position is generally 4 days/week with hours varying between 1PM to 9PM, with 1 planned overnight shift each week to support varying program needs and activities, including an occasional Friday night for Scholar weekend activities.
Responsibilities
1. Residential Community Life
- Responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing positive community life for Residential Scholars
- Implement an annual Community Development Plan with the Residential Program Leadership Team, to include activities of team-building, wellness, spirituality, stewardship, personal responsibility, and recreation (and fun!)
- Empowering scholars to contribute to the BHGH community through scheduled and documented house meetings, chores, and opportunities to participate in work study program
- Role model positive relationships within the community and with BHGH Stakeholders
- Foster a positive parent/guardian relationship with Scholar families
- Follow guidelines and budget to implement household activities
2. Youth Development
- Manage academic performance and proper academic protocols; build and support relationships with external academic supports including teachers, school counselors, tutors, BHGH academy team, etc.
- Support the achievement of holistic Scholar goals
- Facilitate positive interactions and support Scholars in daily responsibilities
3. Operations and Administration Support
- Transport Scholars from school and extracurriculars as needed
- Communicate with Operations staff on changes in Scholar schedules (i.e. Appointments, scheduled activities, etc.); complete drive requests as needed
- Maintain documentation and records including case notes, Scholar records, medication logs, etc.
- Ensure the safety and security of the home and Scholars (i.e. medication protocol, utilizing de-escalation techniques)
- Schedule and record medical appointments and outcomes (i.e. Dental, Eye, Counseling)
- Record Scholar schedules on internal calendar system (TeamUp)
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, education or a related field is required
- Experience leading and developing community
- Experience working with adolescent youth is essential; at least one year required
- Certification in CPR, first-aid, and Crisis Prevention Intervention will be required, and provided as needed, as a condition of continued employment
- Be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license and a good driving record (no more than two moving violations)
- Basic computer skills with knowledge of record keeping and professional documentation standards

Compensation and Benefits

Boys Hope Girls Hope of Northeastern Ohio was formally incorporated in 1986. Since our doors opened over thirty years ago, Boys Hope Girls Hope has expanded from a single home serving five boys to a unified Campus of Hope with three residential homes, a robust out-of- school-time program (Academy) and a Post-Secondary Support & Scholarship program serving each Scholar for an average of 10 years.
During the 2024-2025 program year, Boys Hope Girls Hope will provide transformational opportunities to 12 Residential Scholars 145 Community Based Academy Scholars (6th-12th Grade) 70 Post-Secondary Collegians & Fellows
