High School Physical Education Teacher
A full-time, competitively paid teaching position at a first-rate college preparatory school for boys.
Boys’ Latin of Philadelphia seeks a High School Physical Education Teacher charged with developing within students, healthy physical fitness skills and practices. The teacher will design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that support the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of students. The teacher will develop experiences that complement the school’s wellness and athletics programs, ensuring students receive a comprehensive physical education. The teacher will promote and nurture the education of students by planning and tailoring courses of study; monitoring, assisting with, and correcting student performance; and providing a safe environment conducive to learning and character development. In class, students will exercise, practice, compete, and play as well as learn the fundamentals of and required skills for basketball, baseball, football, lacrosse, soccer, and track, among other popular sports.
The teacher will perform the following duties:
- Plan, develop, and deliver a college preparatory curriculum that is aligned with PA Common Core standards and best practices.
- Assess students regularly and use data to drive instruction as well as to provide remediation and enrichment based on individual student need and ability.
- Communicate students’ progress toward realizing fitness goals, partnering with parents and school personnel to provide instructional and emotional support and resources.
- Build a classroom environment that is welcoming, academic, joyful, and safe.
- Commit to the school’s extended day structure, serving students outside of the regular school day, and teaching in the Saturday School and summer academy programs.
- Sponsor extracurricular activities as part of the school’s award-winning Leadership Academy.
- Enforce the Student Code of Conduct and serve as a culture keeper of the Boys’ Latin mission.
