Boysville Auxiliary Thrift Store Operational Manager Job Description
*There will be a 3 month performance review for our mutual benefit to ensure compatibility.
Job Summary:
Manages the overall operations of the Thrift Store to include the warehouse/donations area, processing, and selling activities.
Achieves revenue goals and manages expenses according to the budget and provides suggestions and guidance to the Boysville Auxiliary in operational matters.
Responsible for the leadership and supervision of employees and community service volunteers.
Ensures all activities are performed in an ethical, responsible, safe, efficient, and profitable manner.
Assigns job duties/tasks necessary to meet the needs of the store operations.
Makes the necessary decisions to implement the policies and directives of the Boysville Auxiliary under the Auxiliary’s Executive Committee.
Essential Performance Requirements: Other related duties may be assignedProcessing of Donated Goods
1. Ensures the store’s warehouse is kept clean and organized.
2. Ensures the efficient processing flow of donations avoiding bottlenecks and meeting quality and quantity standards while ensuring the sales floor is kept well stocked.
3. Ensures goods are priced and tagged in a manner that customers can easily determine the price of each item and are priced according to the price schedules that provide quality goods at low prices.
4. Ensures all salvage goods are disposed of in the most profitable manner.
Retail Sales:
1. Ensures the efficient retail operation which provides customers with a pleasing shopping experience and high standards of customer service.
2. Ensure the efficient utilization of available selling space to achieve maximum revenues.
3. Ensures the sales area has a sufficient quantity and quality of merchandise while making sure the items are displayed properly. Ensure signage/posters are effectively placed while ensuring the merchandise is sold in a timely manner.
4. Adjust the store displays and floor layout to accommodate the volume of merchandise being received.
5. Ensure the accurate closing of each day’s transactions by reconciling register totals, preparing bank deposits, preparing reports, and preparing the registers for the next business day. Ensure all register and customer transactions are executed according to retail standards and good business practices.
Overall:
1. Keeps operations in proper working order and facilities/property clean, well-organized, and operational in accordance with the store’s schedule. Operates within the personnel compensation budget avoiding unnecessary overtime work. Market the Boysville Auxiliary organization and explain its goals and mission to the general public.
2. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
3. Plan, organize, and direct effectively.
4. Lead, train, guide, and inspire employees to achieve objectives.
5. Analyze and evaluate situations, make decisions, and develop alternatives.
6. Handle a fast-paced working environment with changing needs and remain flexible.Human Capital:Recruit and retain qualified individuals whose values sustain the Auxiliary’s mission. Schedule the working hours for employees/volunteers to ensure the optimum store performance.Customer Satisfaction:Consistently provides and ensures quality customer service both to internal and external customers to include donors and members of the Boysville family.
Relationships: Maintains a positive working relationship with the Boysville Auxiliary members, Boysville Auxiliary volunteers, Thrift Store employees, and directors of Boysville Inc. Provide a monthly report to the Boysville Auxiliary on store performance.
Financial:Responsibility to take a proactive role in protecting the Auxiliary’s assets and resources by controlling costs and generating revenues.
Physical Demands: Stands, walks, and/or sits for prolonged periods of time, repetitive bending, reaching, twisting, and stooping. Lifts/push/move up to 50 pounds and occasionally 100 pounds.
Must Haves: Valid Texas driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto liability insurance. Must meet standards required .

Pay: $55,000.00 per year
