The City of Bozeman is now accepting applications for a GIS Specialist who will develop and maintain the Geographic Information System including preparing data, records, and output while integrating routine maintenance integrations into various GIS applications. Full-time City of Bozeman employees receive top-tier benefits including 15 vacation days, 12 sick days, 12 holidays, 8 weeks of paid paternal leave, bilingual pay, excellent retirement options, comprehensive health, dental, and vision plans, discounted ski tickets and gym memberships, and much more!Bargaining Unit: Montana Federation of Public Employees (MFPE)Fair Labor Standards Act Status: Non-ExemptWork Week: Typically Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pmExamples of Essential Work (Illustrative Only)Develops and maintains the Geographic Information System, including preparing data, records, and output; and integrating routine maintenance information into various GIS applications;Provides support for software integrations between the City’s GIS, Naviline, and other database systems;Provides training, demonstrations and technical support to personnel in the operation of the Geographic Information System and personal computers;Develops and maintains the City’s Open Data platform;Develops and maintains website content for the Strategic Services Department;Develops and supports online reporting tools and dashboard technologies;Develops and supports mobile solutions for field data collection and maintenance;Develops quality controls and standard operating procedures to ensure data integrity;Makes recommendations for new software acquisitions;Assists in the evaluation, troubleshooting and managing of the GIS system;Researches and compiles a variety of information materials from outside sources, summarizes the information, and prepares related reports accordingly;Researches and recommends technology initiatives related to the City’s Geographic Information System including acquiring, refining, manipulating, and merging spatial information from diverse sources;Keeps immediate supervisor and others accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems or suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems;Attends meetings, conferences, workshops and training sessions and reviews publications and audio-visual materials to become and remain current on the principles, practices and new developments in assigned work areas;Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities;Responds to questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner;Performs other duties consistent with the role and function of this classification.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Computer Science or a related field; and1-3 years-experience with GIS-related software, GIS-related database management, software and mapping; orAny equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Valid Class D Driver’s License (or equivalent) and must obtain a Montana Class D Driver’s license within sixty (60) days of employment;Offers for employment are conditional upon satisfactory response to appropriate post conditional offer process.
