Salary Range: $165/day for the first 34 days, then retroactive pay of $250.33 day if the vacancy goes beyond 34 days.

Description:
This position is one of several counseling positions for Gallatin High School's approximately 1400 students in 9th-12th grade. The counselor is responsible for a number of diverse tasks: providing guidance and support to students and families, serving as a liaison between student families and instructional teams, assisting with student schedules, attending to the social/emotional needs of the students, enhancing the positive school culture, collaborating closely with the administration and support services, and instructing lessons addressing the counseling standards.

Qualifications:
The selected candidate must have a secondary degree and certification in school counseling or the ability to be certified by the start of the 2023-2024 school year. A secondary teaching certificate is also recommended. The position requires strong skills in interpersonal communication, organization, and collaboration. Most importantly, the candidate must have a passion for working with adolescents and a belief that all students have the ability to succeed.

Working Conditions:
The counselor works closely with his/her counseling colleagues to attend to the academic, social/emotional and developmental needs of the our population of 9th-12th graders. He/she collaborates closely with teams of teachers, parents and administrators to support the students. The work schedule is based on the collective bargaining agreement of certified staff plus ten additional days to support the opening and closing of the school.
