What are the responsibilities and job description for the Software Developer (onsite position) position at BPS Bioscience?
BPS Bioscience is seeking a candidate to help us continue the development and support of our LabGuru LIMS software. LabGuru provides the lab with an Electronic Notebook, Inventory, Knowledge Center and connects to our NetSuite ERP system for work orders and purchase orders. This position will be to enhance the current configuration of LabGuru, work with the scientist in the lab to implement new features of LabGuru we are not currently using and train users on new and current procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with clients and/or internal teams to understand user needs; drafts initial proposal and design of software to meet these needs.
- Assesses feasibility of design and project parameters within time and cost constraints.
- Analyzes user needs and designs software for company use.
- Develops code and designs software applications based on user specifications.
- Modifies existing software to correct errors or improve performance.
- Monitors and assists with software testing and validation procedures and programming.
- Monitors and assists with software installation; ensures application operates within established specifications.
- Gathers and evaluates user feedback and then modifies software for better usability.
- Designs databases for specific application areas.
- Determines required system performance standards and hardware configurations based on client specifications, budget, security needs, and other parameters.
- Collaborates with systems analysts, engineers, and programmers to design systems to support required applications.
- Advises company on software maintenance.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years software development experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Science or other related field of study
- Prior experience with LabGuru or other LIMS software development
- Programing experience with Python, Ruby on Rails, HTML, JavaScript
- Prior experience working in a BioTech or Science Lab
- Experience with NetSuite preferred
- Good communication skills to meet with Scientists and determine how developing new LabGuru tools can help them.
