What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yard Switcher position at BPV Environmental?
Summary:
This job will require the candidate to use a switcher or yard truck to move trailers out of and into docks for the production, receiving, and shipping teams. Each shift will operate for 10 hours with two 30-minute breaks. This job also requires the ability to use fork trucks to unload/load paper bales from trailers, break paper bales open, and operate a skid steer.
Essential Functions:
· Ability to operate a switcher truck to move trailers from parking spots into docks and vice versa.
· Ability to manage all available parking lot trailer spaces with full trailers and empty trailers.
· Always have basic knowledge of updated trailer inventory.
· Work with staff to maintain an appropriate level of paper inventory on the floor and in trailers based on scheduling needs.
· Must be able to use a forklift to unload or load trailers.
· Must have the ability to operate a skid steer to mix and dump paper.
· Maintain a good attitude while operating for 10 hours.
Required Education and Experience:
High School Diploma / GED
Ability to work weekends and overtime.
Attention to detail and conscientiousness.
In good physical condition and strength.
Ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
Experience operating heavy equipment and/or work experience driving trailers or box trucks
Preferred Education and Experience:
Driver’s license
Previous switcher truck experience
Operation of skid-steers and forklifts
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Switcher truck certified.
Skid Steer certified
Fork Truck certified
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This job operates in an outside environment within a manufacturing/warehouse/shipping facility during all seasons. This position requires the ability to operate the switcher truck during all seasons and weather conditions. This position also has physical requirements such as standing, walking, sitting, lifting to 50 lbs., carrying, pushing/pulling, balancing, kneeling, jumping, stepping, and crawling.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, standard days/hours are Monday – Friday 6am-4pm with the flexibility of some early hours, evening hours, weekend, and overtime work when needed.
