Job Description
- Must be Instructor Ready: uniform, lesson plans, maintain records (attendance, track progress and complete end of session report)
- Instruct participants according to American Red Cross and/or YMCA water safety standards: using lesson guides, guided discovery teaching, effective class organization and positive relationship with participants
- Teaching swimming techniques, swimming strokes, and water safety rules to students with varying swimming abilities.
- Implementing ground rules for each swim session.
- Planning swimming lessons that take into account students’ abilities and progressive development.
- Identifying incorrect swimming techniques and correcting students accordingly.
- Understand our demographics’ complex history and relationship with water
- Maintain positive relationships with class participants, parents, non-class members, and staff.
Swim Instructor Requirements:
- Experience minimum 1 year of experience
- Proven experience working as a swim instructor
- CPR, First Aid, and American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, Basic Swim Instructoror YMCA Swim Instructor certifications
- Strong swimming abilities
- Strong knowledge of proper swimming technique and water safety rules
