The Opportunity
BQE Water has opportunities for Water Treatment Plant Operators at an industrial mine water treatment plant. Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, you will:
· Analyze plant performance, complete daily process reviews, analysis, optimization and troubleshooting.
· Ensure production targets are met by operating and maintaining all aspects of the water treatment plant effectively, including:
- Data collection and entry
- Reagent mixing and pump calibration
- Lab duties: collecting samples & assaying
- Equipment maintenance & general housekeeping
· Acquire a clear understanding of BQE Water process technologies and operations.
· Write, review and edit technical documentation – you’ll report on operations, write SOPs and maintenance manuals.
· Communicate and report information regularly to others on site as well as BQE Water colleagues at the head office.
· Ensure the plant operates in compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills, you’re able to get your message across clearly and tactfully.
- You question assumptions as you work with other operators, clients and BQE Water engineers in person, via email/teams and over the phone.
- Strong mechanical aptitude – you have built things before and can figure out how things work.
- Basic knowledge of process chemistry (i.e. coagulation, solid/liquid separation).
- Commissioning, start-up and process plant operations experience are assets – ideally in industrial, municipal or mining wastewater treatment operations.
- · Experience with ion exchange, reverse osmosis and/or electrocell systems are assets.
- Ability to work both independently and as a collaborative team member.
- Self-motivated and results oriented; you take initiative to do what it takes to get things done safely.
- Computer skills including proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook/Teams).
- Level/Class 1 Water or Wastewater Operator certification is an asset.
- MSHA training is an asset.
- ADEQ certification is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license, emergency first aid with CPR and forklift experience are assets.
Shift Schedule
We work 12-hour shifts on a Super 7 schedule:
o Week 1: 4 nights; 3 days off.
o Week 2: 3 days; 1 day off; 3 nights.
o Week 3: 3 days off; 4 days.
o Week 4: 7 days off.
Site Access
Our site is accessed by bus at no cost to you, with pickups located in Vail and Nogales, free parking provided at both; potential future expansion to additional locations based on demand.
