Founded in 1975, BR A Consulting Engineers maintains a total staff of over 500 employees located at our main office in Boston and branch offices in New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Vienna, VA (Washington, DC); Coral Gables, FL (Miami); Chicago, IL; St. Louis, MO; Tampa, FL; Charlotte, NC; Charleston, SC; Houston, TX; and New Haven, CT. BR A provides state-of-the-art integrated and coordinated mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection consulting engineering, technology systems design, lighting design, and building commissioning services.
BR A is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for the Construction Administration department with hands-on field experience in design, operation, and construction of electrical and fire alarm systems. The candidate should also have working knowledge of the interaction of mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and DDC control systems with electrical systems. This position is based in our New York City office.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks, be highly organized, have excellent writing skills, demonstrate proficient computer skills, and have a professional and team-oriented demeanor. The ability to visit project sites, attend meetings in person and virtually, author site and punch list reports, review submittals / RFIs / shop drawings, and collaborate with trade contractors is necessary. The applicant must also possess :
- Functional working knowledge and experience with electrical systems and the interaction with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, building automation systems, as well as systems design & construction processes;
- The ability to work directly with Architects / Owners / Construction Manager Representatives in a hands-on training role for the functional understanding of systems;
- Knowledge and experience in the design and operation of fire alarm systems, experience with NYC fire alarm systems is a benefit;
- BS in Electrical Engineering;
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
