We are currently seeking intern/co-op candidates to learn with us as they engage in a variety of hands-on projects alongside our high-performing and authentic R&D team.
Position Summary
The Machine Learning Software Engineering Co-op will support the development, testing, and integration of machine-learning algorithms for medical devices. This individual will work closely with our principal and senior-level engineers to develop tests for medical devices.
Responsibilities:
- Design, prototype, develop, and test machine-learning based image segmentation and object detection algorithms
- Design dataset labeling GUI tools in Python/MATLAB
- Support the integration of machine learning algorithms to products
- Documentation for all phases of product development
- Routine communication with peers and supervisors including documentation of work, meetings, and decisions
Training to be Provided
Students will be exposed to working with various product development and R&D departments within the Bracco Medical Technologies (BMT) organization. They will learn key requirements which need to be followed in a regulated environment such as the medical device industry.
Additionally, our interns and co-ops benefit from a buddy program, career development programming, and opportunities to build their professional networks virtually and in-person with BMT professionals.
Required:
- Background in image and signal processing
- Depth of knowledge in deep neural networks such as CNN
- Experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, Pytorch)
- Knowledge/experience with Python programming
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Basic debugging and troubleshooting skills
- Passion to learn and good attitude
Preferred:
- Graduate students (either M.S. or Ph.D.) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field
- Knowledge/experience developing GUI applications in MATLAB and PyQT
- Experience implementing dataset processing pipelines for machine learning applications
- Experience contributing to Azure DevOps projects
- Experience with image processing algorithms
- Proficiency in MATLAB
Job Location
- Pleasanton, CA (mostly remote but occasionally in-person at the Pleasanton office)
Term/Hours
- Term: Spring/Summer/Fall of 2025 start, 2-3 semester rotation, can be consecutive or non-consecutive semesters.
- Hours: 20 hours per week during the semester, and 40 hours per week during the summer
