Description
Bradford & Bigelow, Inc., a top specialty printing company in Newburyport, MA seeks a Platemaker to join our growing team. The Platemaker exposes plates conventionally or digitally so they can be printed, ensuring the meeting of company quality and performance standards, and customer specifications and delivery requirements, in accordance with company policies and procedures. This is an overnight position: Hours are 12am - 8am, M-F.
Bradford and Bigelow provide a Night Shift Sign on Bonus of $1000 paid in two installments.

Duties include but are not limited to:
- Ensure processors and platesetters are in proper operating condition. Perform assigned maintenance activities according to departmental procedures.
- Set up the plates to be processed, and process according to departmental procedures.
- Inspect plates and proofs for adherence to quality standards and customer specifications. Make proofs to ensure plates have been exposed correctly.
- Deliver plates to pressroom for printing.
- Fold down proofs.
- Ensure an adequate inventory of departmental supplies.
- Participate on cross-functional teams to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes, methods, productivity and quality, while reducing costs.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
- Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
- Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
- Maintain file management on RIP/Server
- Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
Basic Requirements:
- At least one year experience in the printing industry
- Fluent in English (written & oral)
- High School or Equivalent
- At least 18 Years of Age
- Ability to work in the US without sponsorship
- Excellent vision, including the ability to perceive color
- Capable of repeated standing, walking sitting, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs for 8-12 hours at a time
- Ability to tolerate exposure to loud noises and moving machinery (PPE provided)
Candidates must also have the following skills/abilities:
- Read and interpret work orders and production schedules.
- Work with manufacturing management to achieve company goals including customer satisfaction and company profitability.
- Proficiency in the use of the Hagen data collection system and display consistency and accuracy in meeting data collection requirements.
- Accept direction from supervisors, management and peers to improve quality and performance.
- Willingness to work together with peers and other departments to improve quality and performance.
- Working knowledge, awareness, and compliance with ISO Procedures
- May require additional availability to work evenings and/or weekends.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Manual Dexterity including the ability to operate plate processors, and a variety of small hand tools and precision measuring devices.
