The Maintenance Mechanic performs the more complex plumbing, electrical and carpentry maintenance and repairs such as replacing solenoid valves, switches, relays, and thermostats, rewiring appliances, constructing partitions and small out buildings, and installing plumbing pipe and related plumbing fixtures. Performs general painting, plumbing, electrical and carpentry repairs, such as unstopping clogged sinks, drains, and garbage disposals, resetting circuit breakers, replacing cord caps, buffer switches, and light switches; makes minor repairs to heating, refrigeration, air conditioning units, and other electrical equipment; repairs damaged walls and doors; paints inside and outside building walls; replaces windows; refinishes and repairs furniture. Provides outdoor seasonal maintenance as needed, including but not limited to snow removal and lawn care when appropriate.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Uses power and hand tools to perform repair and maintenance work.
Operates ladders, forklifts, dollies, and other basic loading and unloading equipment as required.
Services equipment used by oiling, greasing, and adding gas as required.
Procure supplies as needed (i.e. hardware store runs).
May install and maintain fixtures and facilities.
May drives trucks to transport materials such as furniture, supplies, or equipment if required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS :
Keep the department and your work area clean and maintained.
Dependability and reliability with respect to attendance and punctuality.
The ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
Recognize safe work habits, wear personal protective equipment (PPE), identify first aid kits and know how to activate emergency stop buttons.
Understand and recommended procedures and / or company policies for preventative maintenance.
Additional duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Must be able to :
Sit, stand, and walk for up to 8 hours per day.
Bend and / or crouch for long periods of time.
Move freely throughout the entire interior and exterior of the facility.
Operate heavy machinery (i.e. fork trucks, lifts, snow removal and lawn care equipment).
Use ladders, hand and power tools.
Lift and / or carry heavy objects up to 60lbs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :
Ability to operate and maintain hand power tools safely.
Ability to operate and maintain and operate floor, snow removal, and lawn care equipment.
Ability to operate a fork truck and man lift safely.
Follow direction but also work independently when appropriate.
Communicate effectively through reading, writing, and / or speaking.
Ability to work overtime when necessary to uphold a safe working environment.
Follow policies and procedures as listed in the Employee Handbook.
Possess knowledge of building and equipment maintenance / repair techniques.

Fluent in English (written and oral).
Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Machine shop experience.
Knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing systems, and general carpentry.
Four years of general maintenance and repair experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and / or education from which comparable knowledge and skills have been attained.
Prior experience in a printing environment helpful but not required.
