What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary PT Library Clerk position at Bradford County Library?
JOB SUMMARY: Performs a variety of routine clerical and customer service duties. Other job-related work as required in the Library. These duties should always be of utmost quality service and be performed to meet the need of our clients. Hours will vary during all open hours of the library Monday through Saturday
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Work the circulation desk as scheduled on a daily basis, check-in and check-outs, holds, new patron cards, and assist with book requests
- Maintain client privacy
- Answer phone calls, assists client with requests, and taking messages for staff
- Sorting and shelving of library materials
- Assist patrons with computer and microfilm usage and questions
- Check book drop daily
- Schedule meetings for Conference room
- Register patrons for library programs
- Participate in public relations activities as opportunities arise
- Attend staff meetings and workshops, as needed and work schedule would allow
- Cover and stamp new books; add pockets and cards; add and remove spine label and new book dot as directed
- Assist with annual inventory
- Plan story time crafts, books and songs
- Assist with story time reading
- Process interlibrary loans by filling requests, logging data, and mailing
- Book mending
- Assist with Adult and Children’s programs
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director
PHYSICAL and MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have the ability to record, convey, and present information, explain procedures, and follow instructions;
Must be able to sit for long periods of time with frequent periods of standing, walking, and occasional twisting, reaching, pulling, and pushing required for obtaining files, doing inspections or other job duties;
Dexterity requirements range from simple to complex movements of fingers/hands, legs/feet, or torso to carry out job duties;
Sedentary work with occasional lifting, 15-20 pounds;
Must demonstrate emotional stability;
Ability to cope with physical and mental stress of the position;
Must be able to pay close attention to detail and concentrate on work.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Clerical experience, computer knowledge, accuracy, or a combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE and TRAINING:
High School Diploma or GED required. Some knowledge of library functions or willingness to acquire such library techniques preferred. Ability to serve the public in a professional manner. Customer service and phone etiquette
