What are the responsibilities and job description for the Educational Technology Specialist position at Bradford Elementary School?
Bradford Elementary School is looking for a dynamic technology leader for our school. This leader is excited to teach weekly technology classes in collaboration with classroom teachers to all students K-6 and provide front-line tech support to staff and students within the building. The perfect individual for this position would be curious, self-motivated, patient, and eager to learn new applications and technology tools to support staff and student learning. Bradford Elementary is a Google for Workspace school where students are 1:1 with chromebooks in grades 2-6. We have ViewSonic Viewboards, two 3D printers, mobile chromebook and iPad carts, along with BeeBots, Ozobots and Dashes. Knowledge of all of these tools is not required, but the motivation to learn is a must!
Sixty teachers, paraeducators, office, custodial and food service staff work together to provide high quality education for the children in our community. Instructional excellence is rooted in the soil of relationship and restorative practices for 230 students. Educator voice and leadership opportunities are found in our current teacher-driven passion projects: staff and student wellness, implicit bias and belonging, data driven decision making and aligning practices to prepare students for middle school. Outdoor education is a huge part of our work, with multiple outdoor classrooms. Several grades commit to all day outdoor learning. Embedded technology and a vibrant unified arts program engage staff and student learning in often surprising and fun-filled ways.

Bradford Elementary School is located less than a mile from our charming Main Street where you’ll find coffee shops, boutiques and restaurants. We’re 25 interstate miles north of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Dartmouth College, and a variety of shopping experiences. We’re near skiing, riding, hiking, biking, and kayaking. Bradford Elementary School is located in the foothills of the Green Mountains along the picturesque Connecticut River Valley in Bradford, VT. Our 58 staff and 240 PK-6 students are a learner-centered community working together to support student growth academically, socially and emotionally. We believe that meaningful experiences empower young learners. Experiential learning deepens understanding of content knowledge and applied skills. Eight of our fifteen classrooms spend a portion of one day every week in outdoor classrooms, in all weather. A vibrant Unified Arts program integrates art, music, technology and even P.E. into literacy, mathematics, science, and humanities.
Bradford Elementary School is part of the Oxbow Unified Union School District (OUUSD). The other schools in our district are Newbury Elementary School, Oxbow High School, and Riverbend Career and Technical Center. The four schools work closely and share a single budget. Newbury and Bradford, especially, collaborate and coordinate programs as we jointly prepare students to enter middle school at Oxbow High School.
We’re governed by the policies of OUUSD, with building-based procedures and protocols that implement district policy. Our school district is part of Orange East Supervisory Union (OESU). The other schools in OESU are Blue Mountain Union, Thetford, and Waits River Valley. Our supervisory union covers the diverse towns of Ryegate, Wells River, Groton, Newbury, Bradford, Corinth, Topsham and Thetford.
Essential Job Functions
Leadership
• Contributes to the development, communication, and implementation of a shared vision for the comprehensive use of technology to support a digital-age education for all students by advocating for policies, procedures, programs, and funding strategies to support implementation of the digital learning plan
Teaching, Learning and Assessments
• Collaborate with teachers and model the design and implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences using a variety of research based, learner-centered instructional strategies and assessment tools to address the diverse needs and interests of all students
• Collaborate with teachers and model the effective use of technology tools and resources to continuously assess student learning and student ability to choose and use appropriate technology
• Collaborate with teachers and model the effective use of technology tools and resources to collect and analyze student achievement data, interpret results, and communicate findings to inform instructional practice and maximize student learning
Digital Age Learning Environment
• Collaborate with teachers and model the use of online and blended learning, digital content, and collaborative learning networks to support and extend student learning as well as expand opportunities and choices for online professional development for teachers, administrators, and staff
• Collaborate with teachers and administrators to select and evaluate digital tools and resources that enhance teaching and learning and are compatible with the school technology infrastructure
• Research and recommend the use of adaptive and assistive technologies to support student learning in coordination with a student support team
• Troubleshoot basic technology problems common in digital learning environments
Developing Professional Learning
• Design, develop, and implement technology-rich professional learning programs that model principles of adult learning and promote digital age best practices in teaching, learning, and assessment
Digital Citizenship
• Models and promote strategies for achieving equitable access and ethical use of digital tools and resources and technology-related best practices for all students and teachers
