This position reports to: Division Level Principal

Core Responsibilities of this Position:

Instruction and Curriculum:

· Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the curriculum.

· Differentiate instruction to engage students at all levels, including enrichment activities.

· Use diverse teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles.

· Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports student engagement.

· Offer at least one weekly tutoring session, communicating availability to parents and students (in grades 5-12).

· Implement and track IEPs and 504 Plans, attend meetings and maintain required records.

· Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.

· Assist in selecting instructional materials, ensuring principal approval for reading materials.

Assessment and Evaluation:

· Assess student progress using tests, assignments, and projects.

· Track growth through formative and summative assessments per administrator guidelines.

· Enter grades weekly for student and parent access (grades 3-12).

· Provide regular feedback on performance and areas for improvement.

· Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and other required data.

· Prepare students thoroughly for standardized tests.

· Ensure compliance with laws, district policies, and school regulations through accurate record-keeping.

Classroom Management:

· Establish and enforce classroom rules and procedures to maintain discipline and a positive learning environment while providing an environment where all students feel safe and respected.

· Model the School Creed in daily actions.

· Keep the classroom clean and organized, guiding students to assist.

· Maintain classroom issued technology, tracking use of devices and accounting for items throughout the year.

· Supervise students at all times, except during scheduled planning or as directed by administration.

Communication and Collaboration:

· Actively participate in meetings with departments, school staff, and parents.

· Regularly communicate student progress and needs to students, colleagues, and parents.

· Provide positive feedback for each student at least once per year.

· Invite all parents to quarterly conferences and notify them promptly if students fall below grade level, offering available school supports.

· Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to enhance teaching and student success.

· Respond to parent emails within 48 hours.

· Check emails daily during the school year and a minimum of once a week during breaks and summer.

· Document all parent communications and share records with the division principal and Executive Director as needed. Carbon copy division admin on email with parents as needed.

School Specific Programs

· Adopting and working towards the implementation of the school strategic development plan

· Implement school programs with integrity as directed for each grade level. Specifically, Morning Meeting in grades K-5, Advisory in grades 5-12 and House in grades K-9

· Participate in schoolwide events and grade level events as requested by administrators.

· Attend field trips and overnight trips as requested by administrators.

School Policies and Procedures

· Foster a positive work environment.

· Understand and enforce school policies, board policies, and administrative procedures, supporting them publicly.

· Maintain a sub folder with class rosters, daily instructions, and student-specific details.

· Exhibit professional work habits, including punctuality and proper use of planning time.

· Follow the chain of command and decision-making process outlined in the Employee Handbook.

· Take attendance promptly each morning and at the beginning of each class (grades 6-12).

· Clock in daily, enter leave requests in the payroll system promptly, and request substitutes as needed.

· Ensure extra duties (carpool, advisory, field trips) are covered when absent.

· Attend all staff training courses and meetings, completing required trainings on time.

· Adhere to the Staff Dress Code and enforce all Student Handbook policies.

· B.A./B.S. degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field

· North Carolina certification in teaching in appropriate subject area (preferred, not required)

· Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

· Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

· Commitment to maintaining current knowledge needed to teach subject matter.

· Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology

· Ability to manage a learning environment with a student-centered focus.

· Ability to adapt teaching style to accommodate different student learning styles.

· Ability to apply assessment results to improve teaching effectiveness.

· Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.

The physical activity required for this position:

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Ability to stand for approximately 8 hours. Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Ability to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.

Pay: $36,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
