What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Supervisor position at Bradford Soap Works Inc?
Job Function: Plan, organize, and direct the daily activities and operation of Bar Soap production lines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct department personnel; assign work, review performance, provide training and development
- Monitor, achieve and maintain all department and Company established production objectives.
- Work closely with and provide day to day direction to support department employees.
- Assist in the coordination and scheduling of maintenance activities related to equipment repair and installation.
- Direct workforce so as to achieve and maintain established quality standards.
- Monitor, update and maintain all department and Company established reporting documents as required.
- Update and maintain all payroll related reporting documents as required.
- Administer bargaining unit Labor Agreement in accordance with Company objectives.
- Recommend bargaining unit staffing levels and assist in the job bidding and hiring process.
- Insure compliance with all Company policies and procedures including GMP.
- Insure compliance with all safety procedures to include investigation, recommendation and follow-up of safety related issues in the workplace.
- Manage and coordinates special projects as assigned.
- Duties relevant to the basic function.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- College level education with Bachelors degree in Production Management, Engineering or similarly related field.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of supervisory experience in a unionized, manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Capable of functioning with little supervision and directed by broad guidelines.
- Capable of providing overall guidance and leadership in addition to on-going direct supervision.
- Capable of exercising considerable judgment on complex situations related to the machinery and process.
- Able to communicate effectively. Capable of negotiating and resolving conflicts when they arise.
- Knowledge and skill at employee selection, review and termination
- General knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
- General knowledge of OSHA regulations and safe practices.
- Capable of moderate physical effort. Will frequently spend significant number of hours in shop floor environment.
- Capable of utilizing normal office equipment including personal computer equipment.
- General knowledge of company policies and procedures as they relate to a union shop.
- Capable of extended hour commitment.
