Position Summary
The Data Services Manager reports to the Director of Data Management and Application Services and works with the IT department to ensure the data needs of the firm are met. The Data Services Manager will be responsible for oversight of the firm’s technology and processes around data, analytics, and document management. The successful candidate will be a key stakeholder in all data-related projects, and in some cases, manage multiple concurrent projects on behalf of the data services team and the firm’s PMO. The Data Services Manager will establish and maintain strong vendor relationships and serve as the IT team’s liaison to those vendors for projects related to their respective disciplines. The successful candidate will have an understanding of data analysis, reporting suites, and document management platforms as well as day to day support of systems. This position is also expected to propose projects to improve the overall efficiency of the firm working closely with the Practice Solutions and PMO teams.
Essential Functions
- Manage a team of Data Administrators, Data Analysts, Database Administrators, and others who support the firm’s data related needs.
- Serve as the primary contact for the firm’s administration team.
- Coordinate and lead Firm data initiatives in conjunction with the PMO.
- Assist the Financial team in successful delivery of critical financial reports.
- Work alongside other team members to receive and respond to feedback related to data initiatives.
- Ensure maintenance is performed and best practices are followed with regards to software and systems utilized by the Data Services team.
- Propose and guide implementation of improvements to systems and processes by studying current processes and industry best practices.
- Respond as an escalation point for Service Desk and on-call personnel.
- Identify, document, and manage issues and escalate as appropriate.
- Utilize and update Firm’s Knowledge Base to actively promote its health and use.
- Review end user feedback to improve overall user experience.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience: Five or more years of experience in data analytics or a related field
Skills
- Business analysis and/or project management experience
- Ability to contribute and work within a cross-functional team
- Experience with business systems including, but not limited to legal and financial software such as Elite 3E (or similar products), NetDocs (or other Document Management solutions), and Intapp products
- Thorough understanding of relational databases and modern reporting suites
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Accuracy, attention to detail and good organizational skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong time-management skills and ability to multi-task
- Strong client service focus and ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision
- Work within a team and project driven environment
- Ability to be on call for escalation of issues after hours and weekends
