What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2:1 Direct Support Professional (Enhanced) position at Bradley Beck, Supports Broker?
Do you want to make a difference in the life of a young man with autism? He is hiring two energetic and engaging people to provide support to him Monday-Friday, 3 PM-5 PM. The ideal candidates are extroverted, animated, and proactive, with the flexibility to adapt to his needs. Experience following behavior plans and supporting people with autism is essential. This is an enhanced position, and qualified applicants must have a degree in a related field, or one of the certifications listed at the end of this posting.
He is fun-loving, fashionable, great with technology, and values his independence. He loves movies, concerts at Rose Tree Park, and visits to interactive museums and exhibits. He also enjoys hanging out at home, and will complete chores when he is home. He values his relationships with his workers, and loves engaging with them, often through scripted conversation from movies and videos. A predictable routine is important to him, and he uses a visual schedule, so he knows what to expect throughout the day. However, flexibility is important, and workers must be proactive and able to adapt the schedule when he is upset or agitated to prevent challenging behaviors. He can exhibit high-intensity behaviors such as pushing or hitting. A behavior support plan is in place, and workers will be trained and supervised on the plan and supporting him. There will be a second staff member present to provide support at all times.
Position details:
· This part time position is Monday-Friday, 3 PM - 5 PM, for a total of 10 hours per week.
· Pay is $35/hr, plus mileage when he is in your car.
· Qualified candidates must have at least one year of experience supporting individuals with autism and implementing behavior support plans.
· Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Psychology, Education, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work, or Gerontology. Also accepted are one of the following: Current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst, or NADD Competency-Based Clinical, Dual Diagnosis or Support Professional Certification.
· Must pass a criminal record check, possess a valid driver's license, car insurance, and vehicle registration.
