Overview
The Accounting & Finance Process Manager is responsible for complex various accounting and finance activities associated with maintaining ledger accounts, developing and reviewing financial statements, property reporting including budgeting
and monthly comparative analytics. The Accounting & Finance Process Manager is responsible for leadership of the financial planning and analysis for the properties and assisting with consolidated reporting for corporate. The Accounting & Finance Process Manager reports to the Controller.
Location: Indianapolis, IN, 46240 - hybrid
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Process improvement champion for Accounting and Finance Department
- Leading monthly FP&A process for the properties
- Manage, direct and develop staff accountants through hands-on training related to critical accounting tasks and monthly analysis process
- Help develop models for assessing the profitability of client portfolios
- Assess and document current standard operating procedures and processes to identify issues and create timely solutions.
- Implement process and procedural improvements to streamline work, increase productivity, and maintain service and quality excellence.
- Work closely with the internal and external Yardi Teams to drive process improvements to enhance financial reporting efficiency and accuracy.
- Participate in accounting systems conversions or enhancements and train other staff members on new processes / systems.
- Ability to record complex business transactions in the general ledger: property purchases and sales, entry of previous property management company financial data into accounting system.
- Assist property management team with property onboards/offboards.
- Responds to and resolves issues and requests from property management teams and clients regarding various accounting issues.
- Research open accounting issues and recognizes potential issues and/or conflicts so corrective action can intercept and minimize issues.
- Works closely with Property Managers on financial data and accounting transactions.
- Perform analysis of department product offering and vendor operations to determine if performance meets goals and expectations.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, CPA and/or Masters in Accountancy preferred
- 2 years of supervisory accounting experience
- 7 years of professional level accounting experience in the real estate industry
- Accounting experience in commercial real estate industry required
- Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, proven analytical skills, organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook required
- Yardi software experience preferred
