The Supervisor Workplace Violence Prevention works under the supervision of the Manager Behavioral Health Workforce and Professional Development. S/he supports the strategic learning needs of the affiliate and partner entities by designing learning activities using evidence-informed instructional methods and evaluating program impact through metrics of affiliate importance.
Supervises manages and coordinates a team of multi-disciplinary clinical specialists in the development and provision of competency-based behavioral education evidence-informed practices and workforce development training programs for providers at Bradley Hospital Brown University Health entities and the community at large.
Interviews hires and supervises direct service providing staff across disciplines and supports all staff in the competency development disciplinary action and career development.
Participates with the Director Clinical InnovationManager Behavioral Health Workforce and Professional Development and the Bradley Learning Exchange Supervisors and staff in the development of new or revised curricula and associated training materials to support basic continuing education and advanced training programs for staff across disciplines throughout Bradley Hospital Gateway Healthcare other Brown University Health entities and community providers.
In collaboration with the Behavioral Health Workforce and Professional Development Manager and the Director of Clinical Innovation the Supervisor Workplace Violence Prevention is responsible for facilitating affiliate-wide learning programs including but not limited to new employee orientation competency management structures role development programs and continuing education.
Aids in developing enhancing and obtaining curriculum to address critical competences. Develops competencies relating to work task expectations in accordance with specific positions and ensures these are updated and current. Formulates orientation competency checklist to be completed by new hires during orientation. Ensures teaching materials are current meet all regulatory requirements and are evidence informed. Provides education orientation and in-service opportunities for the program staff when deficits in knowledge are identified. Coordinates the work of Bradley and Brown University Health embedded trainers.
Provides leadership and direction that promotes patient care that is safe and of the highest quality. Provides in the moment education as needed and serves as a resource to the staff.
Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations. Maintains knowledge of regulatory and accrediting standards. Provides patient and staff consultation in areas of clinical expertise. Participates in hospital and departmental quality assurance and improvement programs in areas of clinical expertise.
Participates in the Brown University Health Workforce Safety Council and quality risk and safety improvement efforts as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
EDUCATION:
Graduate from an accredited college/university with a Bachelor of Science degree in education psychology or other healthcare related field.
Actively enrolled in a clinical master�s program.
EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience with the facilitation of learning as educator behavioral training specialist preceptor or similar role. At least 3 years of teaching experience. At least 5 years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting. Knowledge of healthcare cultures including emergency department inpatient care and ambulatory settings. Experience and knowledge of trauma informed care and crisis management principles.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
State of Rhode Island unrestricted valid clinical license (i.e. LMHC LICSW RN) required.
American Heart Association Healthcare Provider/First Aid BLS Instructor Certification preferred.
Safety Care Instructor Certification preferred.
Mental Health First Aid Instructor Certification preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Prolonged sitting standing and walking. Exposed to all patient elements. May be required to lift/turn patients and equipment. Repeated bending squatting stooping.
INDEPENDENT ACTION:
Incumbent functions independently within a broad scope of department policies and practices; generally refers specific problems to supervisor only where clarification of departmental policies and procedures may be required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Supervises up to 10 FTEs.
