JOB SUMMARY
Provides direct patient care to patients in the endoscopy setting using the nursing process. Is responsible for managing the care of assigned patients and coping with rapid patient turnover. Is knowledgeable in the principles of gastrointestinal endoscopy, responsible for the safe and efficient utilization of the endoscopy department. Demonstrates the ability to assist the physician, and responsible for the safety of the patient before, during and after the procedure. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient being served. Performs all duties and maintains all standards in accordance with company policies and procedures.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program or will obtain prior to working as a RN
Licensure: Current Georgia RN or a multi-state license meeting eNLC criteria professional licensure or will obtain prior to beginning work as a RN. BLS CPR required
Experience: Two to three years medical or surgical nursing preferred.
Skills: Ability to obtain and interpret pertinent information in terms of the patients' needs that are age appropriate. Ability to select proper instrumentation and supplies for age group of patients being served. Must have good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other associates throughout the organization in to provide excellent and maintain effective working relationships.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Prolonged walking and standing required, with the ability to lift and move patients. Ability to tolerate rapid patient turnover and high census. Works in an endoscopy unit with patients having wide range of acute and routine gastrointestinal problems. Required to work flexible hours with call duties assigned. Requires exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
