JOB SUMMARY
Oversees all operations related to the laboratory information system, reference laboratory interfaces as well as remote products to physician offices, including daily maintenance functions, systems updates, and troubleshooting. The LIS Manager is responsible for education, maintenance, updates troubleshooting of the laboratory information system.: Coordinates, develops, and maintains the scope and performance of laboratory information systems projects. Maintains project documentation by formulating and implementing policies and procedures. Maintains and updates the system.
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or one of the natural sciences.
Licensure: Current certification as a Medical Technologist, ASCP or equivalent. Must maintain current certification. Must meet Tennessee State Laws of licensure of clinical laboratories.
Experience: Two years of experience in computer operations, four years clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Technologist in a highly complex laboratory
Skills: Exhibit good managerial and interpersonal skills. A self-motivated individual with good communication, problem solving and organizational skills. Ability to obtain and interpret pertinent
Information in terms of the patients needs that are age appropriate. Ability to select proper instrumentation / supplies
appropriate for age group of patient served. Demonstrates consistent ability to perform clinical skills necessary in the care
and treatment of a variety of ages of patients, particularly focusing on the neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposed to the hazards normally associated with a clinical laboratory setting, such as, exposure to disease-bearing specimens, toxic chemicals and hazardous wastes. Walking, standing, sitting, bending, and stooping required. Must work under stress of time constraints and heavy workload demands. Subject to call back as needed.
