Position Title: Administrative Support I
Department: Office of Student Access Services (SAS), Student Affairs
Reports To: Director of Student Access Services
Appointment: Full-Time; 40 hours per week; 10 months
Status: Non-exempt (Hourly)
Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour
This position is primarily responsible for supporting the Office of Student Access Services. The Office of Student Access Services provides services to meet the individual needs of students in accordance with their disabilities and academic implications.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Provide administrative support for the Office of Student Access Services. Specific duties will include but are not limited to:
Support Duties
- General office duties such as opening and closing the office
- Checking voicemail messages
- Answering phone calls and redirecting to appropriate SAS staff as needed
- Scheduling appointments for the Director
- Organizing and filing documents
- Answer general questions about the offices and services
- Assist students with questions about receiving accommodations
- Creating new student files
Testing Duties
- Checking students in and out for testing
- Package examinations and coordinates pickup/delivery of completed exams.
- Provide testing accommodations as needed such as scribing and reading.
- Proctor examinations
- Releasing exams to professors or identified staff
- Creating return envelopes for exams
- Cleaning testing areas
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Position Qualifications
- One to three years of office experience that demonstrates ability to work independently
- Ability to use sound judgment to make decisions
- Ability to work with confidential information and records
- Perform detailed job tasks with accuracy
- effectively interact in person, via email and telephone with students, parents, University personnel and external constituents
- excellent communication skills
- ability to show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences
- ability to work with sensitive information
- use basic office equipment (computer, fax, phone system, copier, duplicator, scanner)
- proficient in work processing spreadsheets (Excel) and database management applications including mail merge procedures
- knowledge of accounting procedures
- ability to compose correspondence; draft reports; handle multi-step processes
- coordinate/manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously and on deadline
- Editing and proofreading skills.

Mental/Physical Requirements
The selected candidate must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Work is performed in normal office environment with little exposure to outdoor temperatures or dirt and dust. Working conditions are typically moderately quiet.
