What are the responsibilities and job description for the Stoneleigh Emerging Leader Fellow position at Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violenc?
We are seeking a dedicated fellow based in Philadelphia to join our team and support the growth and evaluation of our initiatives. This role will involve assisting with the development and execution of educational campaigns, coordinating workshops, and analyzing data to assess the effectiveness of our programs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for community advocacy and an interest in addressing gun violence through innovative, supply-side solutions.
Stoneleigh Emerging Leader Fellowship
Candidates chosen for an interview will be contacted directly by April 2025. One final candidate will be recommended to and interviewed by the Stoneleigh Foundation in May 2025. In June 2025, Stoneleigh staff will present recommended candidates and projects to its Board of Directors for their final determination. The approved candidate will begin the Fellowship on September 8, 2025.
The Project: Combating Crime Guns in Philadelphia
Our project aims to increase public awareness around supply-side issues of gun violence and to utilize this heightened awareness to apply public pressure on local leaders, elected officials, law enforcement, and the gun industry itself to hold problematic gun dealers accountable and ultimately reform bad industry actors in Philadelphia. This will be achieved by implementing a comprehensive educational campaign, conducting a survey to assess its impact, and leveraging community voice and storytelling to amplify the experiences of those affected by gun violence. The goal is to generate public support and mobilize action, leading to tangible changes in industry practices and policies within the next 2 years.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in organizing events, workshops, and training sessions, ensuring smooth coordination and communication with all stakeholders.
- In partnership with Brady’s Strategic Engagement team, collaborate with community leaders to design and tailor educational materials that address local needs and concerns.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify emerging trends in supply-side strategies and assist in data-driven decision-making processes with guidance from CCGI’s research team.
- Prepare reports and presentations to update leadership and partners on the progress and outcomes of the initiatives.
- In coordination with Brady’s Policy team, engage with policymakers and advocacy groups to promote supportive legislation and policies that reinforce our supply-side efforts in reducing gun violence.
Qualifications:
A strong understanding of gun violence prevention strategies, advocacy experience, and the ability to leverage community voice and storytelling for social change.
Proficiency in public awareness campaigns, survey development, and data analysis is also preferred.
A collaborative and inclusive approach to work both at Brady and among external partners.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage time-sensitive and diverse projects simultaneously.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the root causes of gun violence and its intersections amongst racial, social, and economic justice issues is preferred.
