Position Overview
Working closely with the Sales Team, the Jan San Specialist will drive / lead janitorial/sanitation related commercial activities as it pertains to prospecting, value proposal / quotation development, problem-solving efforts to secure new business and achieve customer retention. The role will work closely with Marketing and Purchasing teams to devise programs and vendor sources for all janitorial products.
Responsibilities Include:
- New business development – drive the selling of Jan San portfolio of products, equipment, and services to amenable markets, including New to Market and Competitive Account Prospects. Strong emphasis on consistent field presence and prospecting (high rate of daily call activity), and expeditious Direct Marketing follow-up.
- Support Sales Team with existing customer account management and customer relationships as it pertains to Jan San product / equipment requirements. This will include assisting with customer value creation, wallet share growth, and profit management.
- Collaborate and interact with the Sales Team, Sales Managers, and the broader customer-facing organizations such as Equipment Engineers and Technicians.
- Specialist will also assume direct selling of Jan San products and equipment where opportunities are available.
- Working knowledge of basic janitorial equipment to include chemical products and applications, cleaning tools and applications.
- Adept at demonstrating product performance.
- Educate Sales Team / develop their product knowledge.
- Maintain awareness of new product developments and market trends, continually work with regional / local equipment specialists to identify, and support janitorial equipment opportunities.
- Report out on leads as it pertains to KPIs, metrics.
- Provide guidance on vendor sourcing and developments to include new sourcing recommendations.
- Work with key Jan San vendors to develop and follow through on business directed initiatives.
- Conduct product training for the Sales Team during sales meetings.
- Conduct Jan San seminars for customers as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s Degree, advanced degree preferred.
- 5 years’ experience in Sales, Marketing, Technical, Business or Market Development
- Ability to effectively collaborate with technical people up to senior executives.
- Ability to foster a collaborative relationship in a cross-functional team and with customers.
- Ability to analyze business and technical requirements and propose solutions that exceed customers’ expectations and increase the company’s economic value.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
