Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment where you will be responsible for assisting with various veterinary procedures, ensuring the well-being of animals, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
- Maintaining instruments and equipment.
- Perform laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Monitor animal vital signs and provide critical care when necessary.
- Utilize veterinary terminology effectively in communication with staff and clients.
- Restrain animals safely during examinations and procedures to ensure their safety and comfort.
- Conduct X-Ray imaging as required for diagnostic purposes.
- Maintain accurate medical records for each patient, documenting treatments and observations.
- Provide care for animals in the kennel area, including feeding, bathing, and exercising them.
- Assist in training dogs as needed to promote good behavior and socialization.
- Evaluating animals and checking vitals
- Assisting in client education
- Drawing blood samples
- Filing prescriptions
- Monitoring animals under anesthesia
- Directing surgical schedule
- Maintaining cleanliness of facility
- Ability to meet physical demands of restraining animals and lifting up to 40lbs.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- A degree or certification in Veterinary Technology is required.
- Proficiency in veterinary critical care practices is highly desirable.
- Experience with animal catheterization techniques is a plus.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment used in veterinary settings.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology to facilitate effective communication.
- Ability to demonstrate proper animal restraint techniques for various species.
- Previous experience working in a kennel or similar environment is beneficial.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact positively with clients and team members.
