What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Drafter/Designer position at Braeden Engineering?
Major Responsibility Areas (MRA's):
Electrical Designer Responsibilities
- Assure that all assigned electrical projects are designed on time according to schedule.
- Actively update the project management and task tracking system for all projects and associated tasks
- Write electrical panel building procedures and ensure they are followed for each job.
- Design AC/DC controls with PLCs, networking, HMIs, panel mount devices, and Relay logic.
- Promote designing standards to aid in simplifying building process across different product lines.
- Highly skilled in using AutoCad for 2D schematics
- Highly skilled in using Solidworks for electrical equipment design
- Establish communications with the Engineering Manager from to beginning each project and ensure that he is kept aware of all aspects of the design from start to finish through PM Software.
- Design systems for use in Hazardous Areas for NEC 500/505, ATEX and IECEx - plus but not required
- Work closely with vendors to specify new components and replace obsoleted ones.
- Actively lead and be a part of all actions required to effectively and safely complete all job steps.
- Promote continue design improvements and participate in Lesson learned and Field NCRs.
- Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure all Bill of Components are ordered correctly and in a timely manner.
- Aid the Engineering Manager as instructed to mentor and coach new designers to successfully complete their MRA's in an effective and consistent manner.
- Aid the Operations Manager for job planning with respect to equipment and tool logistics.
- Communicate and collaborate with the Field to as needed for successful job execution when working remotely and to aid in troubleshooting.
- Manage and oversee generation of part numbers
- Manage and oversee generation of processes and procedures related to Electrical Design , internal quality, and standard practices
Profitability
- Ensure all design follow a prescribed budget that ensure project profitability.
- Accurately record all time worked daily using the daily timesheet and time keeping procedures.
- Accurately submit daily time worked using the weekly timesheet to payroll on a weekly basis.
- Ensure that all BRAEDEN expense reports are submitted for reimbursement on the 5th and 20th of each month.
Quality
- Report all service, equipment and tool issues to base management using a Non-Conformance Report. (NCR)
- Report design changes through Braeden ECR process and follow up where needed

- Demonstrate the ability to properly and in a timely manner, complete all administrative requirements. (FSO's. Timesheets, Expense Reports, Etc.)
Safety
- Ensure Braeden and Customers safety programs to reach the annual goal of zero safety incidents.
- Become an advocate for a safe work environment and participate actively in safety meetings.
- Wear all required safety PPE while working on a customer's location or in at Braeden facility.
- Prior to any job commencing, assure that all JSA's are completed and documented per BRAEDEN and/or customer requirements.
- Follow all BRAEDEN and customer required safety procedures during installations on location or at the shop.
