What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aggregate Quality Control Technician position at Braen Stone Co?
Braen Stone Industries, the leading supplier of construction materials including stone, sand, asphalt, septic materials, recycled materials and agricultural limestone, is currently seeking an Aggregate Quality Control Technician.
We are a safety minded company and expect the successful candidate to be as well. This position is hourly, non-exempt from overtime. Overtime is paid after 40 hours are worked each week. Hours of work are will vary.
Expectations/ Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Routine visitation to our numerous sites collecting samples as per AASHTO & ASTM standards
Ability to become well-versed in the industry related details/specs
Proficiently sample the associated materials through control of quality measurements for products involving various aggregates
Must have excellent written & verbal communication skills with the capacity to clearly communicate results, identified problems to supervisors/managers
Perform a variety of laboratory tests in a methodical, well-organized, and accurate manner of all related product quality/test data
Be able to efficiently inspect and take notes on the conditions of the weather feedstock, plant settings, stockpile
Identify and alert site managers of any problematic, unusual issues within the stockpile to ensure quality control of products
Ingenuity and resourcefulness to seek new technical developments within the industry for quality control development
Prepare various QC reports
Required Knowledge/Skills/Aptitudes:
Must have an optimistic attitude and willing to learn new tasks
Self-motivated positivity by working independently however demonstrate eagerness to participate with being part of a team setting
Must be able to read, comprehend manuals & directions
Detailed organization, timely filing, strong worth ethic are key essentials
Proficient with Microsoft Word/Excel
Basic math skills are vital for purposes of accuracy
Must possess a valid Drivers License
Field/Plant experience in testing/controlling the quality of aggregates/materials AND/OR prior Quality Control Technician experience a plus
Physical Demands:
Repetitive stooping, bending, crouching as required to perform duties
Ability to lift/carry at least 100 pounds unaccompanied
Candidate must be able to stand for extended periods of time
Employee will regularly work near moving machinery
Travel: This position is based in Haledon, NJ. however, travel among all of our locations will be expected
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Hours are generally 7:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday and Saturday may be required.
Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions
Periodical exposure to high levels of noise, grease & dust
This position may be subjected to seasonal layoffs. This is considered a safety- sensitive position subjected to the Company’s Controlled Substance and Alcohol Policy.
