Position Overview:
The Accounting Manager, reporting directly to the Controller, is a crucial member of Bragg Companies' general ledger accounting team. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations, including revenue recognition for construction projects, job costing, balance sheet reconciliations, and managing the accounts payable team. The Accounting Manager will drive the company’s broader finance transformation initiatives, promoting process improvements and transparency across accounting functions. Additionally, this role will play a key part in ensuring high-quality financial reporting and maintaining efficient accounting processes, all while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounting Operations: Manage daily accounting activities, including month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Revenue Recognition & Job Costing: Prepare and calculate revenue recognition and job costing for construction projects in compliance with ASC 606 and company policies.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Review and approve reconciliations prepared by team members for leases (ASC 842), notes payable, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Accounts Payable Management: Oversee the Accounts Payable team, ensuring timely and accurate processing of vendor payments, employee reimbursements, and related accounting entries.
- Invoice & Payment Review: Manage the review of invoice batches and payment runs, ensuring alignment with cash flow and accuracy in payment processing.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements and automation for journal entry and accounts payable functions to enhance efficiency and reduce manual workload.
- Supplier Relations: Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, including managing vendor applications, tax forms, and ensuring accuracy in supplier records.
- Team Support: Provide leadership and guidance to the accounts payable team, ensuring high team performance and professional development.
- Audit Assistance: Assist in the preparation of financial statements and provide support during the annual audit process.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is required.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, including financial analysis, general ledger responsibilities, and managing a team. Experience in the construction industry is highly preferred.
- Accounting Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles (US GAAP) and practical experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition for construction contracts.
- Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate challenges and solutions within the accounting team and across departments, driving process improvements and ensuring clarity in financial reporting.
- Financial Systems Expertise: Experience working with financial systems that support multiple reporting dimensions, along with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Companies Experience: Experience working in a company with revenues over $300M and managing complex financial operations within a dynamic environment.
- Process Improvement: Proven involvement in accounting department transformations and designing/implementing process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

- Location: This position is based at Bragg Companies' Corporate Headquarters in Long Beach, CA.
- Physical Demands: Standard office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. Occasional movement between office areas may be required.
