Position Overview: The Crane Service Technician plays a critical role in maintaining and servicing our fleet of cranes and heavy equipment. This hands-on position ensures that all machinery operates efficiently and safely, contributing to Bragg Companies' high standards of service and performance. The Crane Service Technician will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues, performing regular maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. This role directly supports the company’s commitment to quality, safety, and innovation by keeping equipment in peak condition for critical projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance & Repairs: Perform routine and emergency maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of cranes and related equipment to ensure they are operational and meet safety standards.

  • Safety Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections of equipment, ensuring compliance with company safety protocols and regulations. Report any potential hazards or equipment malfunctions.

  • Diagnostic Expertise: Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues. Implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate service records, including work performed, parts used, and any safety issues identified. Ensure all documentation complies with company and regulatory requirements.

  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with other team members, including crane operators and project managers, to communicate equipment status and needs. Provide technical support as necessary to ensure smooth operations on the job site.

  • Equipment Upgrades & Modifications: Assist with the installation of upgrades or modifications to equipment as required to meet project specifications and improve efficiency.

  • Emergency Response: Be available for on-call service and repair, ensuring quick response times to minimize operational delays and disruptions.


Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or training in crane service or heavy equipment maintenance preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in crane service, maintenance, or repair.

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in cranes and lifting equipment.

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment issues efficiently.

  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulations related to crane operations.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

  • Ability to lift heavy objects, work in various weather conditions, and operate machinery.


Preferred Experience:

  • Certification through the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) or equivalent is a plus.

  • Experience with specific crane models or specialized lifting equipment is preferred.

  • Prior experience working in construction, energy, or other industrial sectors is beneficial.

  • Knowledge of computer diagnostics and maintenance tracking software.


Work Environment: This is a field-based position with regular travel to job sites. The Crane Service Technician will work in various weather conditions, at heights, and in diverse environments, including construction sites and industrial settings. Protective gear and adherence to safety protocols will be required.


Reporting Structure: The Crane Service Technician reports directly to the Service Manager and works collaboratively with crane operators, project managers, and other field technicians.
