Position Overview:
The Payroll Administrator plays a crucial role in ensuring that Bragg Companies’ payroll is processed accurately and in a timely manner. This position is integral to the smooth operation of the business by handling payroll processing for both union and non-union employees, maintaining confidentiality, and addressing any payroll-related discrepancies. The Payroll Administrator will be the point of contact for payroll inquiries and will assist with generating reports, supporting internal communications, and maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Timesheet Management: Track and ensure timely and accurate submission of field timesheets, making sure that all hours worked are accounted for and processed correctly.
- Payroll Processing: Review and balance timesheet data for weekly payroll processing using custom software, ensuring that all payroll calculations are precise and completed on time.
- Report Generation: Create and distribute weekly and monthly payroll reports, including Union reports, and ensure that all necessary documents are ready for review.
- Issue Resolution: Address payroll questions, discrepancies, and concerns, escalating complex issues to the appropriate parties as needed to maintain accuracy and resolve problems.
- Interdepartmental Communication: Respond to payroll-related requests from internal and external departments, providing support as necessary and ensuring smooth workflow.
- Relationship Building: Foster positive relationships with both company personnel and customers, offering analytical support when needed and collaborating effectively across departments.
- Confidentiality Maintenance: Safeguard employee confidentiality in record-keeping and ensure compliance with state and federal privacy laws regarding payroll data.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience processing payroll, with a solid understanding of payroll procedures and best practices.
- Payroll Knowledge: Experience with both union and non-union payroll and an understanding of the specific requirements for each.
- Privacy Law Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of state and federal privacy laws as they relate to payroll and employee data.
- Wage and Hour Laws: A strong understanding of state and multistate wage and hour laws and how they affect payroll processing.
- Technical Skills: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, with proficiency in basic math operations, data sorting, and creating complex spreadsheets for payroll analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Software Experience: Experience with Sage300 (Timberline) construction software is highly preferred, though not required.
- Certified Payroll: Familiarity with certified payroll processes and documentation, especially in the construction industry.
Work Environment:
- Location: The position is based at our Long Beach, CA headquarters. Candidates must be able to commute to the office as needed.
- Physical Conditions: The role is performed in a standard office environment, with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. Occasional movement between office areas may be required.
